  • Patent number: 10449604
Abstract: In an injection cylinder which can be connected with a plunger, the internal portion of the cylinder part is partitioned by a piston into a rod-side chamber on the side of the piston rod and a head-side chamber on the opposite side. An accumulator can supply a hydraulic fluid to the head-side chamber. A head-use pressure sensor can detect a pressure of the head-side chamber. A flow control valve can control a flow rate of the hydraulic fluid discharged from the rod-side chamber. A control device includes an OP control part which starts open control driving the flow control valve to the opening direction after the start of supply of the hydraulic fluid from the accumulator to the head-side chamber conditional on the detection pressure of the head-use pressure sensor rising up to the predetermined set value.

One embodiment of the present method first involves casting a metal or metal alloy article using an investment casting mold where the mold facecoat, and perhaps one or more of the mold backup layers, comprises an imaging agent distributed substantially uniformly throughout in amounts sufficient for imaging inclusions. The facecoat preferably comprises an intimate mixture of a refractory material and the imaging agent. Intimate mixtures can be produced in a number of ways, but a currently preferred method is to cocalcine the refractory material, such as yttria, with the imaging agent, such as gadolinia. The facecoat also can comprise plural mold-forming materials and/or plural imaging agents. The difference between the linear attenuation coefficient of the article and the linear attenuation coefficient of the imaging agent should be sufficient to allow imaging of the inclusion throughout the article.

Abstract: A method for cooling a plunger tip of a die-casting machine for maintaining a proper clearance between a plunger tip and a shot sleeve. A proper hydraulic pressure in an injection cylinder is determined at which no galling occurs in the shot sleeve. Hydraulic pressure in the injection cylinder is measured several times in a state where no molten metal exists in the shot sleeve. For example, measured is the hydraulic pressure in the injection cylinder at the time of return stroke of the plunger tip immediately after injecting operation. Average hydraulic pressure is computed based on the plurality of measured hydraulic pressure. The average hydraulic pressure is compared with the proper hydraulic pressure. If the former is greater than the latter, clearance between the plunger tip and the shot sleeve is deemed to be too small. • Patent number: 4197900
Abstract: A furnace including a cooled mould having its bottom sealed with a bottom plate and its top sealed with a cooled vacuum chamber fitted with a cover carrying an electrode holder movably fixed therein. Mounted in the cooling spaces of the furnace units, filled with a liquid-metal cooling agent, are tubular heat exchangers intercommunicating with each other to form a closed circulation circuit filled with a coolant which is chemically neutral to the liquid-metal cooling agent and to water. The cooling spaces of the furnace units are filled with a liquid-metal coolant and communicate with an expansion chamber, as well as with a water heat exchanger through a heat-transfer circuit. Arranged intermediate the mould inner wall and its tubular heat exchanger is a shield made in the form of a hollow cylindrical wall.

  • Patent number: 4061179
Abstract: Casting material is delivered to molds arranged along a casting line by a pouring ladle mounting mechanism which includes a vertical column rotating about a vertical axis and a cantilever mounted at one end on the vertical column for rotation about a horizontal axis, and have a free end, opposite to the mounted end, upon which the ladle is mounted by a fork engaging outriggers on the ladle. Tilting of the ladle is effected by rotation of the cantilever and movement of the ladle through a horizontal plane is effected by rotation of the vertical column. The mechanism is transported along the casting line by a wheeled car moving on rails and a hydrodynamic sliding bearing mechanism arranged at the bottom of the vertical column acts as a weighing device to effect dosed pouring from the ladle.

  • Patent number: 4007772
Abstract: A portable vacuum investment casting apparatus includes a box-like housing having an upper generally flat supporting wall with a vertical conduit terminating in an opening in the top wall. A vacuum conduit is connected to the vertical conduit and terminates in an outer sidewall in large and small conical connectors to receive a conventional shop or household vacuum cleaner hose. A manually adjustable valve is connected in an exhaust pipe from the vacuum conduit for controlling the vacuum level. The apparatus is powered from a conventional household type vacuum cleaner device or similar fan unit which establishes a relatively high air flow with a relatively low vacuum. A small vacuum gauge tube is mounted on the front wall adjacent to the vacuum setting control. The top end is connected to the vertical conduit and the lower end has a supply tube with an adjustable end member to set the initial liquid level.
