  • Patent number: 5385196
Abstract: In a spray method for spraying and applying a powdery mold coating agent onto both inside surfaces of a movable metal mold and a stationary metal mold for a permanent mold casting device, a spray method of permanent mold casting powdery mold coating agent in which a spray head provided with an electrostatic spray gun is fit to a feeding port so as to shut it tightly and a suction head connected to a suction pump is fit to a riser port so as to shut it tightly under a state where the movable metal mold and the stationary metal mold are closed. An inside of cavity is sucked by the suction pump through the riser port so as to produce a pressure difference between inside and outside of the cavity, and a powdery mold coating agent supplied from a powdery mold coating agent feeding device to the electrostatic spray gun is discharged from the electrostatic spray gun by means of the above pressure difference so as to be electrostatically adsorbed onto the inside surfaces of the foregoing both metal molds.

  • Patent number: 5076343
Abstract: A lubrication system for the plunger of a die cast machine is disclosed that does not require a timing mechanism or an additional pressure source for the lubricant. The forward stroke of a lube piston is used to force lubricant out of a lubrication chamber in the plunger through a passageway to the outer surface of the plunger by decreasing the volume of the lubrication chamber. A spring within the plunger's lubrication chamber is used to retract the piston and thereby increase the volume of the lubrication chamber. The relatively low pressure during this retraction stroke allows lubricant to flow from a lubricant tank into the lubrication chamber for distribution during the next forward stroke of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5014765
Abstract: Molten metal is prevented from cooling too quickly when supplied to an injection sleeve of a casting device by applying a heat insulating powder onto an inner surface of the injection sleeve between each supply of molten metal. The heat insulating powder can be applied to the inner surface of the injection sleeve by way of an electrostatic field created between an electrode which has been inserted into the injection sleeve and the injection sleeve itself.

  • Patent number: 4949775
Abstract: A die-casting arrangement which prevents a lubricant from becoming mixed into a die cast article which might cause it to bulge when later heated. The lubricating agent is sprayed over a high-temperature portion of a sprue interconnecting a mold cavity and an injection sleeve in order to partly carbonize the lubricant. The carbonized lubricating agent even if mixed into a die cast article will not expand even when the article is heated thereby preventing bulging of the article.

  • Patent number: 4760961
Abstract: A modular spraying assembly particularly adapted for use with automatic molding or dye casting machines which is characterized by a plurality of identical sprayhead modules which can be mounted in linear relationship to one another to form variable vertical and horizontal columns accomodating the particular design of a mold or dye which may be sprayed. A support hanger and manifold blocks are provided to communicate a source of air pressure and liquid mold release compound or lubricant to each linear column of spray head modules. Each sprayhead module is mounted in communication with the sprayhead modules forming a given linear column via a plurality of parallel bores which form air and liquid supply passages common to all sprayheads in the linear column and through which tie rods extend to provide a convenient connecting means for any given number of sprayhead modules in the linear array.

  • Patent number: 4721150
Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is a device for supplying spray units for die casting machines each with a fluid containing water and additives for cooling, cleansing and lubricating purposes. The device contains at least one central tank (26,28) storing water comprising additives, whose concentration has been adjusted to a maximum. Said maximum value depends on casting materials, molds (18,20) and die casting methods which are carried out on the die casting machines (10,12). In another central tank (44) water is stored. The tanks (26,28,44) are connected to mixing valves (38,40) provided at each die casting machine (10,12). A pump is connected between the outlet of each mixing valve and the inlet of a respective spray unit at a die casting machine.

  • Patent number: 4694883
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a hollow foundry core, whereby core halves are first formed and fully hardened on an inner hollow-mold part and an outer mold-box half. These core halves are then sprayed with an adhesive and joined to form a finished foundry core. The apparatus reduces the production costs and improves the accuracy as to the size of the cores. The forming of the core halves on a center plate and the bringing together of the core halves respectively occurs by moving together both core-box halves in one operation.

  • Patent number: 4562875
Abstract: A die-casting method that eliminates the need to inject insulation. By injecting molten metal sufficiently quickly after injecting tip lubricant, die-cast products may be removed from the mold even without injecting isulation. To this end, a movable die may at least begin moving toward a fixed die before tip lubricant is injected. The tip lubricant may be injected from a molten metal pouring port in a shot sleeve or from the movable die toward the shot sleeve. Tip lubricant which has been introduced into the shot sleeve is conveyed into the die cavity by movement of the molten metal, thus coating the die cavity inner surface.

  • Patent number: 4425958
Abstract: With low-pressure or die-casting methods there frequently occur leaks during the transfer of the molten metal from the metal containing basin or vessel to the mold. These leaks often lead to serious accidents and related operating interruptions. According to the invention these problems are solved by a casting method, wherein all movements of the mold occur in a vertical plane. With a preferred embodiment of apparatus for the performance of the method the mold is placed in a positive or form-locking manner with its casting or pour opening upon the casting hole of the metal containing vessel or basin and pressed against the latter in a fluidtight fashion by means of a pneumatic lifting cylinder. This affords the advantage of a simple connection of the mold with the basin and without requiring a coupling mechanism, and, additionally, the heating of the riser or up tube and/or immersion tube can be omitted, which otherwise conventionally was performed by gas heating.
