Including Means To Remove Product From Mold Patents (Class 164/295)
  • Patent number: 6662855
Abstract: A sand hopper (28) is provided at its lower position (40) with a plurality of nozzles (42) and a plurality of squeeze feet (46), the pressure of which is controlled, and which are located adjacent to a side of each squeeze foot. The sand hopper (28) is supported by supporting means (22, 26) such that it can move vertically. A mold space is defined by a pattern plate having a pattern (74a), a flask (4), a filling frame (52), and a sand hopper (28) having a plurality of squeeze feet (46) disposed above the filling frame (52). By discharging molding sand from the nozzles (42), it is introduced into the mold space. The mold sand (S2) in the mold space is compacted by the squeeze feet by lowering the sand hopper toward the mold space. Since the molding machine is so arranged, both introducing molding sand into a mold space and compacting the introduced molding sand are performed at one station (a molding-sand introducing and compacting station).

  • Patent number: 5343930
Abstract: A centrifugal casting carrier system comprising a fixed roller conveyor, a pivotal roller conveyor provided at an adjustable angle to the fixed roller conveyor to form a V-shaped path and thrust arms provided at an approximately right angle to the pivotal roller conveyor for thrusting castings out of the V-shaped path when opened. In operation, a casting from one of the casting molds is drawn onto the V-shaped path. When the pivotal roller conveyor is lowered to open the V-shape path, the thrust arms are raised thrusting the casting out of the V-shaped path onto a stocker. By repeating the operation, multiple castings can be continually drawn and carried away to the stocker without delay.

  • Patent number: 4549339
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing a hollow curved member, especially a curved pipe as well as the curved member or pipe produced by the method and apparatus. A blank is formed by rotating fluid material in a mold having a toroidal cavity about an axis displaced a predetermined distance from the mean longitudinal axis of the cavity and solidifying the fluid material. The blank is removed from the mold and a toroidal inner surface is machined into the blank so as to provide a passageway therethrough. In the preferred embodiment, the toroidal cavity is circular in cross-section and has a circular arcuate axis and the inner surface is machined into the blank coaxial with the outer surface of the blank.

  • Patent number: 4492264
Abstract: The chill mold is mounted on a support which is rotatable about the vertical axis of its casting cavity and is composed of a lower element, an upper element which has a pouring opening, and four peripheral elements arranged in two opposing pairs. The lower element occupies a casting position on the support and coaxial therewith, the upper element is movable between a casting position in which it overlies the lower element coaxially, and a shakeout position in which it does not interfere with the upward removal of the piece from the mold, and the peripheral elements are displaceable radially on the support to allow their movement from a casting position, in which together they surround the upper and lower element, to a shakeout position in which they are further removed from the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4291630
Abstract: An extractor carriage is furnished on each side with an elbow bracket projecting towards its lower portion. To each of these brackets is attached the end of a cable which moves the carriage in its forward direction towards the centrifuging machine. Each cable is protected at its upper portion from sand debris by lateral wings extending from the upper portions of a trough which receives the debris. These cables, as well as a third cable for returning the carriage, are wound around a single motor drum driven by hydraulic motors which are capable of operating at several speeds. The invention may be applied to centrifuging equipment for cast iron pipe.

  • Patent number: 4281707
Abstract: The invention relates to a centrifugal casting machine, comprising on a base stand, a rotating assembly consisting of a mold, a bracket for stripping and releasing the casting. After solidification, the mold is opened by means of a plate movable vertically of the assembly and the upper part of the mold is gripped and transferred by the bracket straight above a position where the casting attached thereto is released. The mold is then closed again and rotated for the next casting.

  • Patent number: 4260009
Abstract: Centrifugal casting apparatus for casting cylinder liners and other tubular articles, characterized by recovery of at least a major portion of the particulate refractory material used to line the mold, with the recovered refractory material being suitable for re-use. The apparatus provides a chamber having aligned openings through which the cast article moves as the article is withdrawn from the mold by a puller. Particulate refractory material from within the mold and from the surface of the cast article is collected in the chamber and conveyed from the chamber to separator means for removal of debris.

  • Patent number: 4139049
Abstract: A positioning apparatus for a centrifugal casting machine having an articulated mold that is mounted for rotation in a cantilevered manner on a drive shaft. The positioning apparatus includes a pair of pillow block bearings having arcuate bearing races that operate to allow the drive shaft to be tilted within a predetermined angular range relative to its longitudinal axis. In addition, the positioning apparatus includes a plurality of locking pins each of which are mounted to cooperate respectively with one of a plurality of positioning members mounted on a rotatable mold-supporting face plate of the casting machine. Operation of the lock pins into engagement with the positioning members moves the face plate into a predetermined position relative to its axis of rotation, following a casting cycle of the machine, so that segments of the centrifugal mold can be radially stripped from an article cast therein without unduly distorting the cast article.

  • Patent number: 4116260
Abstract: The installation comprises two centrifugal casting moulds which are roughly parallel to each other and are movable by rotation of a common support between a mould preparing station, a pouring station and a pipe extracting station, which stations are disposed in such maner that one of the moulds is in the axial extension of the pouring station when the other mould is in the axial extension of the extracting station and vice-versa. The two moulds are carried by rollers mounted on the common support and the latter comprises a horizontal platform which is rotatable about a central vertical axis relative to which the two moulds are symmetrically arranged.

  • Patent number: 4061181
Abstract: An apparatus for centrifugal casting in split molds has a rotatable casting head which is in the form of a hollow frustum of a cone. The head is provided with circumferentially spaced slots which extend along the generatrices of the cone. Each of the slots slidably receives a section of a mold, the various sections being so designed as to define a mold with one another when the sections are properly positioned relative to one another. Each of the mold sections is connected with, but is rotatable relative to, a hollow, primary piston which draws the mold sections together and moves them apart. A jaw chuck having a pair of jaws pivotally mounted thereon is arranged for rotation with the mold sections. The jaws are activated by a rod connected with a secondary piston which reciprocates inside the hollow, primary piston and may be moved independently thereof or in unison therewith. The rod is rotatable relative to the secondary piston.
