Shiftable Moldboard Patents (Class 172/218)
  • Patent number: 5740868
Abstract: A combination of a reversible plough with a plurality of soil preparation devices including an improved height control system. The apparatus includes a headstock by means of which the combination can be mounted on lifting arms at the rear of a propelling vehicle. The soil preparation devices are each mounted on a movable part of a plough frame via a respective swivel coupling that allows the device to be towed and also to be suspended during plough body reversal. A common hydraulic pressure control circuit is provided to control the height of each soil preparation device relative to its respective swivel coupling, and to provide automatic self-compensating adjustment of each device as they follow the contour of the ground.

  • Patent number: 5127480
Abstract: A rotatable plow that includes a pair of oppositely disposed plow members carried on a plow carrier pivotally carried by a draft beam. The draft beam includes a plow carrier adjustment yoke for changing the angular orientation of the plow frame relative to the ground, and thereby also the plow members. A locking arrangement is provided to permit the plow frame to be locked in a predetermined position to selectively present one of a first and a second second plow and moldboard assembly for conducting plowing operations.

  • Patent number: 4409912
Abstract: A cultivating implement include a soil working tool having an elongate substantially planar blade. The blade extends sidewardly and downwardly at an acute angle to the vertical so that its plane is substantially parallel to the direction of movement through the soil and so that soil is lifted without inversion over the blade during passage through the soil. A movable extension is mounted to the blade trailing edge and is adjustable between first and second rigid positions to adjust the lifting action on the soil and thus adapt it to a wide variety of soil types and moisture conditions. At the lower end of the blade is a shoe member with an upwardly and rearwardly inclined upper surface at a leading end thereof, and an upright and rearwardly extending side surface substantially parallel to the direction of travel to provide a bearing surface for resisting lateral forces on the tool due to lifting action of the blade. The shoe member imparts lateral stability and factilitates penetration.

  • Patent number: 4036305
Abstract: A plurality of plow units are mounted to a main frame of a plow system for rotation about their vertical axes. The plow units are spaced at equal lateral increments and at uniformly increased distances from a pivot connection between the main frame and a traction vehicle. The plow units are ganged together by means of a guide beam; and a power actuator controls the motion of the guide beam in rotating the plow units so that their cut lines take a predetermined position relative to the main frame. As the plow system is then used to plow ground, the main frame swings about its pivot connection to the tractor until the plow units line up with the direction of travel of the tractor, thereby adjusting the spacing between plow units automatically. The rear plow unit is mounted to a tail section which is pivotally mounted to the main frame and includes a rear wheel for supporting the distal end of the main frame and for steering the system as the tractor turns.
