  • Patent number: 4554978
Abstract: A frame assembly for mounting on a tractor is provided which is designed for quickly and easily attaching different types of implements thereto without the necessity of frame modification or other time-consuming tractor alterations. Advantageously, the frame assembly includes a pair of elongated rails respectively secured to opposed sides of a tractor, along with a bracket assembly secured to the underside of the tractor adjacent the tractor drawbar structure. Each of the alternately mountable implements includes a mounting assembly having a pair of elongated spaced apart channel arms which are operable for slidingly engaging respective mounting rails. In use the implements are stationarily positioned independently of the tractor, and attachment of the implements is simply a matter of driving the tractor forward with the tractor-mounted rails located to slide into engagement with the implement channel arms.

  • Patent number: 4369590
Abstract: Scraper apparatus for being carried at the rear of a vehicle such as a light truck or the like includes an attachment frame adapted for being carried by the vehicle beneath its chassis thereof at the rear of the vehicle. A blade-carrying frame for carrying the blade at the rear of the vehicle is pivotally and detachably securable to the attachment frame at the rear of the vehicle by use of a securement frame or unit providing telescoping interengagement with the attachment frame, and pivotal interengagement with the blade-carrying frame to define a transverse pivot axis to permit pivoting of the blade-carrying frame upon the axis relative to the vehicle. A winch selectively raises or lowers the pivot-remote end of the blade-carrying frame under remote operator control. The blade is pivotally secured to the blade-carrying frame by a sleeve in which is rotatably journalled a shaft secured to the blade.

  • Patent number: 4353424
Abstract: A vehicle for removing slash from steep logging slopes includes an anti-skid propulsion system characterized by a power winch for reeling in an uphill-anchored cable and a pair of crawler tracks driven in synchronization with the winch. The vehicle has an articulating tail boom for working against the cable to assist in maneuvering the vehicle along the slope and stabilizing the vehicle during slash gathering operations. A knuckle boom which is extendable from the vehicle for gathering slash within a relatively large area around the vehicle and preparing the soil for planting. A slide mechanism is disposed at the end of the knuckle boom for selectively varying the overall length of the boom. The slide mechanism includes a pair of claws which can be operated as a grapple for gathering slash or as a rake for scarifying the forest soil. The slide mechanism can be tilted for optimum orientation of the claws during raking.

  • Patent number: 4335762
Abstract: This invention resides in a log splitter attachment for garden tiller, a unique bearing arrangement for same, and the combination of a garden tiller and such an attachment. The attachment includes a rigid ground engaging base frame having means thereon to support the tiller tine shaft of a garden tiller and a log to be split. Preferably the base frame will also support the garden tiller itself when used with the log splitter attachment. An auger is provided and is mounted on a shaft adapted to slip over one end of the tiller tine shaft. The auger shaft is secured to the tiller tine shaft and supported in a bearing member which is affixed to the base frame. The other end of the tine shaft is engaged within a spacer located in a corresponding bearing member and the spacer is attached to the tine shaft.

  • Patent number: 4085530
Abstract: This invention consists of a device which is attached to the pavement ripper of a back-hoe machine in order to convert the ripper into a combined ripper and trench digger so that the ripping of the pavement and the subsequent digging of the trench is accomplished in a single operation. The device consists of a heavy steel plate which terminates into a sharp digging edge at one end thereof. This plate is bent to conform with the ripper edge of a standard back-hoe ripper, upon which it rests, and is held in position at one end by fitting into an undercut part of the ripper and by two spaced side walls attached to the underside of the upper plate. At this end it is also pinned or bolted to the ripper. At the digging end, this plate is provided with a wedge-shaped pocket in which is located the horn end of the ripper to provide additional attachment of the device to the ripper. The width of the upper plate determines the width of the trench to be cut.
