Publication number: 20130087353Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an innovative arrangement to control the height of ground engaging tools located on agricultural implements via gauge wheel assemblies, particularly for supporting and adjusting the height of winged extensions of the implement frame. The gauge wheel assemblies may provide an adjustment assembly in the form of a screw jack, which can be coupled to a support bracket that is attached to the implement frame and also coupled to a support tube that is coupled to a gauge wheel via pivot assembly and a bracket. The bracket and support tube may be coupled at discrete positions according to the height adjustment of the screw jack via pins and holes in the bracket and tube. When coupled, the pins and holes of the support bracket and tube may reduce the load of the winged extensions on the screw jack mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2012Publication date: April 11, 2013Applicant: CNH America LLCInventor: CNH America LLC

Patent number: 5538085Abstract: A gauge wheel assembly includes a gauge wheel arm that straddles the rig tube and is supported on the tube by two bushings inserted through holes on either side of the tube. The bushings contact each other near the center of the tube to provide a solid or hard joint which permits the pivot bolt to be tightened without crushing the sides of the tube. The bushing has protrusions that are pressed into the tubing wall during installation and thereby prevent bushing rotation. Two different straps at the lower end of the wheel arm permits at least three different combinations of gauge wheels to be quickly and easily mounted. A compact and easily accessible depth adjusting crank is supported entirely above the rig tube. A depth indicator projects from the crank trunnion mounting on the upper end of the wheel arm to provide an indication of depth adjustment.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1995Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Terry L. Patent number: 5203151Abstract: A grass cutting unit has a height of cut determined by a ground roll. A reaction member linked to the ground roll has a captive screw-threaded shaft carrying a hand wheel. A block threaded onto the shaft is linked to the frame of the cutting unit so that rotation of the hand wheel adjusts the height of cut. The weight of the frame is arranged to act on the hand wheel, to urge together contoured surfaces of the hand wheel and the reaction member so as, during normal cutting, to prevent spurious rotation of the hand wheel.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1992Date of Patent: April 20, 1993Assignee: Ransomes Sims & Jefferies LimitedInventor: John Mills

Patent number: 4726303Abstract: This invention is directed to a novel zero-till seed drill which has a shortened wheel base and can thus closely follow the contours of a field which is being seeded, is capable of being raised and lowered at the beginning and end of each pass on the field, and has adjustable level and packer wheel weight capability. The invention is directed to a zero-till drill apparatus which is adapted for optionally carrying a Coulter disk, at least one seed drill, and a holder for carrying seeds, the apparatus being mounted on transport wheels. The apparatus includes means for raising at least one of the transport wheels off the ground while the Coulter disk and/or drill are on the ground in position for dispensing seeds into the ground, and lowering the transport wheel onto the ground when the Coulter disk and/or drill are raised off the ground.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1987Date of Patent: February 23, 1988Assignee: Degelman Industries Ltd.Inventors: Wilfred Degelman, Valentine T. Patent number: 4509603Abstract: An adjustable cultivator tool holder for attachment to, and use with a multi-row cultivator system, is disclosed. An elongated tool bar is attached to a tractor and carries a plurality of adjustable cultivator tool holders. Each such tool holder, in turn, supports cultivating tools such as plows. The spacing of the plows, with respect to each other, in response to crop row spacing, is accomplished by sliding tool carrying collars or sleeves along frame arms which carry the sleeves. These sleeves can be secured in a desired position by the use of quick change pins or the like. Each tool carrying sleeve and its tool can be completely removed from the tool holder and moved to another frame arm, if desired, to maximize tool wear. A number of different cultivator tools can be secured to the adjustable cultivator tool holder in accordance with the disclosed invention.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1983Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Inventor: Louis E.
