  • Publication number: 20140166321
Abstract: An attachment for agricultural implements which tills soil compacted by the wheels of the agricultural implement it is attached to. In one arrangement the power and force used to till the soil is gained from the torque of the machine pulling the agricultural implement it is attached to, alternatively the tilling device is independently powered. This arrangement reduces compaction caused by the wheels of row-crop planters through the use of a shank or rolling tines. The tilling device is mounted directly behind wheels of the agricultural implement. The tilling device has the ability to raise and lower into the soil with the engaging and disengaging of the implement. In addition, in its current form it can independently be disengaged from use by raising and locking it up out of the soil, even if the implement remains engaged.

  • Patent number: 4658910
Abstract: A garden tiller tine assembly having an axle with a plate rigidly attached thereto. First blade structures are provided for engaging the soil and the blades are planar in configuration and have longitudinal axes. These blades are attached rigidly to the plate on one side in a plane obliquely disposed with respect to the horizontal axis of the axle, positioning a proximal edge of the first blade structure closest to the blade and a distal edge of the first blade farther from the plate than a proximal edge. Consequently, when the axle is rotated by a motor or the like in a first rotational direction, the proximal edge of the first blade will always be in front of the distal edge thereof whereby soil contact by the first blade will be thrown in a first lateral direction away from the plate. A second blade is attached to the other side of the plate.

  • Patent number: 4629007
Abstract: The invention relates to an agricultural implement provided with rotary blades (3) which are secured in a changeable manner to at least one blade-carrying flange (2) of a shaft (1). In order to reduce the work and the time for changing the blades, each blade (3) which adheres against one side of the blade-carrying flange (2) is secured to same by means of one single locking bolt (5, 6) and presents a locking shank (203) which passes through a corresponding opening (4) of the blade-carrying flange (2) and adheres against the other side of same.

  • Patent number: 4615395
Abstract: Cultivating tines, each having opposite cutting edge portions, are pivotably supported by mount brackets on a tine shaft reversibly rotatable about a horizontal lateral axis. One of the edge portions of each tine is positionable in a position rearward with respect to the direction of forward rotation, while the other edge portion is positionable in a position rearward with respect to the direction of reverse rotation. The edge portions differ in upstanding posture when positioned for rotation in the intended direction. The curved edge line of the reverse-rotation edge portion is more upstanding than that of the forward-rotation edge portion when coming into contact with the ground.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a plowing implement provided with rotary tools of the kind comprising a horizontal powered rotor (2) provided with a series of sets (7) of radial tools (9). Each of said tools (9) consists of a substantially irregular, arcuated and pointed wedge-shaped body, having such form that, at its front portion, it exhibits a first face (ABD) remarkably inclined to a vertical plane (.pi.) and in the form of a moldboard defined forwards by a first cutting edge (AD). At its rear portion, tool (9) exhibits a second cutting edge (BC), slanting with respect to the first one and substantially transverse thereto, which defines a second face (BCD) inclined to the first and contiguous to it.

  • Patent number: 4424869
Abstract: In a garden hand tool for loosening, cutting and crumbling garden soil or the like, comprising freely rotatable prong arrangements (17) in star-like formation which are arranged to face one another to form a "V" and the edges of which intersect one another because of the interengagement of the prong arrangements (17), thus forming cutting locations, these prong arrangements (17) are freely rotatably mounted on a bearing sleeve (12) and attached to a central axle (11) by means of a central aperture (12a). Between each bearing sleeve (12) which is slipped on the axle (11), a guide bearing (13) is also slipped over and clamped to the end of the axle (11) by an end bearing (14) and a nut (15). In such a case, the central apertures (12a) formed in the bearing sleeves (12) are disposed at an acute angle (at an inclination ) relative to the external bearing surface so as to correspond to the inclined position of the prong arrangements (17).

Abstract: Tilling apparatus disclosed has a rotor shaft with axially spaced multiple tine and hub assemblies having hoe portions of adjacent tines overlapping one another. The apparatus is constructed as a central section and has wing sections pivotally connected to the central section. A first pivot axis for each wing section is the same horizontal plane as the rotor shaft. A first link connects at its lower end to the wing section at the first pivot axis and at its upper end to the central section at a second pivot axis. A thrust link driven by a two-way cylinder moves the wing section about the first pivot axis and then about the second pivot axis. Each tine hub is made in two half-bodies supporting two tines at 90 degrees, with a recess to turn adjacent hubs 30 degrees to one another. Each tine has a bevel on the outer side and a smooth hard surface on the inner side.

Abstract: A soil cultivating machine includes a frame and a plurality of cultivating members in one or more groups journalled to said frame. Each group is driven to rotate about a horizontal shaft extending substantially transverse to the direction of machine travel. The groups of cultivating members are preferably arranged in at least two groups located side-by-side and pivotable about transverse pivots to move vertically against spring opposition to avoid obstacles. Each cultivating member is made of semicircular plates fastened to rings on the horizontal shaft and the plates can have cuts that divide them into segment parts. The outer working portions of the plates can be offset so that neighboring members work paths that overlap or are closely adjacent one another. Each group has respective side plates and a hood supported by the plates and the hood is interconnected to the frame with a spring-loaded rod.
