Abstract: An agricultural disk gang includes an elongated disk gang bolt having a threaded end with an externally threaded surface. A plurality of cultivating disks are supported on the disk gang bolt. A nut is threadably engaged with the externally threaded surface. The nut has a first side facing the disks and a second side facing away from the disks. The nut is disposed to axially compress the disks together on the disk gang bolt when tightened. A tensioning structure is mounted on the disk gang bolt outside of the nut. The tensioning structure has a plurality of threaded through holes. A plurality of threaded fasteners are threadably engaged with the threaded through holes and are disposed to axially compress the disks when the plurality of threaded fasteners are tightened, thereby permitting the nut to be further tightened.

Abstract: A tilling implement has a front row of shallow concave disc blades having a front right portion and a front left portion symmetrically disposed about a centerline of the implement. A rear row of shallow concave disc blades has a rear right portion and a rear left portion symmetrically disposed about the centerline of the implement. The rear right portion following behind the front right portion in a right path and the rear left portion following the front left portion in a left path when the implement is displaced through a field. The implement includes no ground engaging tool in the right path between the front right portion and the rear right portion, and no ground engaging tool in the left path between the front left portion and the rear left portion. The shallow concave disc blades have a concavity of between approximately 1.25 and 1.69 inches over an outer diameter of approximately 20 inches.

Abstract: The invention relates to a rotating, disc-shaped, agricultural tool which is mounted in a frame of a machine via a hub and a bearing arrangement. The bearing arrangement is distinguished by the fact that it is formed from two angular roller bearings which are set in back-to-back arrangement and whose raceways are arranged inclined at an angle to a bearing axis, wherein a space accommodation the angular roller bearings is defined on the outside in the radial direction by a hub body, of V-shaped design in its centre part and having contact surfaces, and on the inside in the radial direction by a supporting ring having spaced-apart contact surfaces on both sides in the axial direction, wherein the hub body is provided at an axial end with a fastening element for fastening the tool. In this way, a captive bearing unit is provided which is already provided with the appropriate prestress and which only needs to be connected to the agricultural tool and to the frame by the end user, i.e.

  • Patent number: 7131501
Abstract: U-shaped cushions, also known as shanks or spring members, resiliently support a gang of disks on the frame of a disk harrow. The agricultural disk cushion is manufactured from a round section of raw material which is lighter and more resistant to torsion related failure than traditional rectangular section shanks. Two leg portions are each tapered to have flat surfaces on opposite sides for flush fitting with mounting elements, while a central portion connecting them remains circular in cross section. The round cross section in this critical area can withstand severe omni-directional loading, as its resistance is equal in all directions The spring rate the leg portions of the disk cushion can be tailored individually to meet the requirements of the application.

  • Patent number: 6695069
Abstract: A disc harrow has a frame and a plurality of earth working discs. Each disc has a central aperture for attachment to a gang shaft. A mount attaches the gang shaft to the underside of the frame and has bearings to permit rotation of the shaft in response to forward movement of the disc harrow. The mount includes a first structural member, a second structural member and a resilient spring connected between the two members. In operation, upon striking of an obstacle by the discs, the gang shaft is permitted to upwardly deflect by the mount to prevent damage to the disc harrow. The second structural member has first and second portions with aligned longitudinal axes. The first and second portions are rotationally connected to permit rotation of the second portion in response to an angular moment applied to the second portion by deflection of the gang shaft.

  • Patent number: 6554079
Abstract: A tillage member in the shape of a disc which has large notches which cause the disc to turn at the same speed as the forward speed of an implement to which it is attached, thereby mixing the soil instead of merely turning over the soil. In order to achieve this mixing and pulling up of the soil for incorporation purposes, the disc has an outer periphery with a concave side and a convex side. An opening in the center of the disc is provided for adapting the disc to be mounted for rotation about a generally horizontal axis. The disc has a plurality of notches in the outer periphery thereof and a plurality of projections disposed respectively between adjacent ones of the notches. The number of notches is no less than six and no more than nine and the number of projections is no less than six and no more than nine. Also, the depth of each notch is approximately fifty percent of the width of each notch.
