Laterally Adjustable Tool Patents (Class 172/673)
  • Patent number: 8413739
Abstract: An agricultural implement including a coupling mechanism for coupling to a vehicle and a frame having a tool tube with a top, which is coupled to the coupling mechanism. The frame is adapted to be pulled by the vehicle. The agricultural implement includes a plurality of wheel assemblies coupled to the frame, which support the frame above a surface. The agricultural implement includes a tool tube bracket coupled to the tool tube. The agricultural implement includes a standard having a mounting portion and a tool-receiving portion. The mounting portion is coupled to the tool tube bracket for translational adjustment of a position of the standard relative to the tool tube. The agricultural implement includes a tool coupled to the tool-receiving portion of the standard.

  • Patent number: 4595064
Abstract: A drag attachment for a disk or cultivating implement which includes a linkage system mounted in cooperation with a fluid cylinder apparatus for raising and lowering the disk transport wheels, which linkage system includes a pair of drive arms connected to the rotatably-mounted wheel shaft carrying the transport wheels, a pair of double pivoted links connecting each drive arm to a separate, adjustable connecting rod, which connecting rod is in turn pivotally attached to a pivot arm rotatably mounted on the frame of the disk. A pair of rearwardly and downwardly extending frame arms mounted on the pivot arm and spaced by an arm brace serve to support a drag pipe, harrow or other cultivating implement in a desired attitude. The drag attachment can be manipulated to raise or lower the drag pipe, harrow or other cultivating implement by operation of the conventional fluid cylinder apparatus provided on the disk.

  • Patent number: 4579179
Abstract: An improved cultivator having support wheels swingably and adjustably mounted under its frame to easily adjust the depth of the cultivating elements. The improved cultivator also has support bars arranged in pairs and carrying cultivating elements thereon. The bars in each pair extend in opposite directions and are connected to the frame by a single wedge having a pair of comming surfaces acting on both bars simultaneously. This wedge can be loosened to easily, slidably, adjust the support bars. The improved cultivator may also comprise a pair of wedge members connected by a bolt for quickly and easily connecting a cultivating element to an end of the support bars.

  • Patent number: 4270339
Abstract: A variable width tool attachment for use with a vehicle is herein described as generally comprising a complete tool which is split vertically and in the direction of vehicle travel to form two half tools. The two half tools are slidably mounted for mutual relative movement in the direction normal to the direction of vehicle travel, i.e, in the direction of tool width. A hydraulic ram cylinder or the like is operable to move the two half tools to form the desired width. In one form of the invention, a horizontal cutting header is provided with a chain cutter and a chain drive having at least one moveable idler sprocket to take-up and let-out chain in the width direction whenever the width of the tool is varied.

  • Patent number: 4037670
Abstract: An improved blade clamping mechanism for a motor grader blade which has blade support rails carried in pivoted blade support means for lateral sliding movement, and in which confining surfaces in the blade support means restrict both vertical and fore-and-aft movement of the rails in the support means. A clamp lever is pivoted on the circle of the motor grader and has a clamp arm which can be turned in a vertical plane against the bottom of the lower support rail with a high mechanical advantage to force the rail against an overlying confining surface; and a single action hydraulic cylinder and piston unit which turns the lever simultaneously presses a clamp shoe against the rear of the upper support rail. The clamps are normally locked by hydraulic pressure on the piston, and released by moving a manually controlled valve to a drain position so that a return spring acting on the clamp shoe can move the shoe and the lever to a release position.

  • Patent number: 4033417
Abstract: A support is connectable with an agricultural machine, and a plurality of agricultural tools is provided which are mounted by mounting elements on the support so that they can be adjusted relative to the support. A single arresting element is provided which arrests all of the tools in their respective positions. The tools have mounting portions extending into a passage in the support and either the passage itself or an auxiliary element in the passage has a wedge face to engage the tool mounting portions.
