Abstract: A knife assembly includes a unique finned point with angled soil-engaging surfaces defining several fracture areas and preventing slabbing to avoid excessive soil disturbance and knife wear. The knife has an extended length between the point and upper mounting brackets to facilitate operation of the point over a substantial range of depths, and the mounting brackets operate above ground level even at maximum point depth operation.

Abstract: A cutting insert and a wear insert for use in an agricultural tool having a cutting edge for forming a furrow. The agricultural tool includes an essentially syncline shaped slicer having a leading member, a trailing member and a pair of sides tapered from the trailing member toward a sharp convex cutting edge extending longitudinally upwardly and forwardly from the trailing member toward the leading member. A leading deflector extends upwardly and forwardly from the cutting edge and is formed integral the slicer by a mounting web. The mounting web includes a pair of sides extending rearwardly from the leading deflector and expanding to a heel having first and second sides adjoining respective sides of the syncline shaped slicer and a rear portion. Each of the first and second sides having formed therein a notch and having affixed thereto a wear insert. A cutting insert is secured within a slot along the cutting edge.

Abstract: An earth crust breaker drawn by a tool bar on a tractor is provided and consists of an elongated U-shaped frame having an angularly upwardly extending front end attached to the bottom of a vertical member of the tool bar. A post extends vertically from each side of the frame to the free end of a horizontal member of the tool bar. A plurality of specifically placed knife blades extend from the bottom of the frame to penetrate the ground and make slices into the crust thereby chopping it up.

Abstract: Reforestation tillage mechanism comprising at least one pivotable suspension frame; at least one blade holder shank having a free upper end and being freely pivotable with an intermediate portion thereof in a plane, the main axis of the shank being substantially normal to the axis about which the frame can pivot; at least one, substantially straight cutter blade removably and adjustably mounted to a lower portion of the shank, to be partly lowered into the soil, defining an angle of about 120.degree. to 155.degree., downwardly inclined with respect to the direction of haulage of the tiller but opposite thereto; at least one pair of substantially parallel tiller blades exchangeably mounted on the shank, behind the cutter blade with respect to the direction of haulage, sloping with respect thereto, and defining an angle of about 10.degree. to 40.degree.
