Abstract: A telecommunications panel and associated system are disclosed. In one example, the panel includes a panel housing having a first side and a second side, one or more data connectors on the first side, and a power input signal connector on the first side. The panel includes one or more combined power output and data signal connectors on the second side, each of the combined power output and data signal connectors configured to electrically connect to a twisted pair cable and including a plurality of twisted pairs each having first and second wire contacts. The one or more twisted pairs are configured to carry a power signal as a direct current voltage difference between the first and second wire contacts, and the remaining twisted pairs from the plurality of twisted pairs are configured to carry differential data signals. The telecommunications panel is configured to selectably allow pairs of the remaining twisted pairs from the plurality of twisted pairs to cooperate to carry a power signal.

Abstract: A modular wiring system carries different types or classes of wiring in a single cable. The modular wiring system includes two conduits, one inside the other. The outer conduit is a Class I conduit and the inner conduit is a Class II conduit. The Class II wiring is carried in the inner conduit and the Class I wiring is carried between the inner conduit and the outer conduit. The outer conduit may be any type of material that is approved for Class I. The inner conduit meets the same voltage rating as the outer conduit. The inner conduit may include a non-conductive outer surface and an inner metallic sheath. The inner metallic sheath is grounded and provides separation between the Class I and Class II conductors.

Abstract: Shields, wire connectors, crimping devices, and wire managers. At least some of the shields are used with a cable that includes a jacket surrounding wire pairs, and a different pair shield surrounding each wire pair. Such shields include a compressible member positioned adjacent end portions of a portion of the wire pairs. The compressible member presses a conductive member against the pair shield surrounding each wire pair in the portion of wire pairs. At least some of the wire connectors include a conductive body positionable alongside a selected wire having a connector surrounded circumferentially by an insulating jacket. The body includes a receptacle with a tapered opening defined between first and second edge portions of the body. As a portion of the selected wire passes through the opening into the receptacle, the first and second edge portions cut through the insulating jacket to contact the conductor.

Abstract: This cable is meant for high speed Ethernet applications. For 40 Gbit/sec data rates, the frequency range of the cable is expected to be at least 2 GHz. All cable performance parameters are expected to be extended to at least 2 Ghz. This includes near end crosstalk. The challenge for cable manufacturers is to produce a cable that avoids “spikes” in NEXT and FEXT to 2 Ghz. The proposed design requires only 1 or 2 pair desirable pair combinations because the shield isolates the pairs into 2 groups of 2 pair. The method of applying the shield eliminates 4 (or possibly 5) required pair combinations by needing only pair 1 to pair 2 and pair 3 to pair 4. It is possible the combination of pair 1 to pair 2 could be used in both groups. The method of applying the shield also reduces the need to increase the insulation thickness to achieve the desired impedance because the shield is not as tight to the pairs.

Abstract: A high speed video cable carries signals according to the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), and includes a raw cable and may include a boost device. The raw cable includes coaxial lines which are covered by an outer metallic braid. Each of four high speed video signals is carried on the inner conductors of a pair of coaxial lines. Lower speed signals are carried on the galvanically or capacitively coupled shields of a pair of coaxial lines, as well as the braid of the cable, thus permitting fourteen HDMI signals to be carried in a cable comprising only eight coaxial lines, resulting in a simpler and lower cost production and assembly of the cable.
