Patent number: 6107572Abstract: A terminal-processed structure of a shielded cable is so simple that the shielded cable becomes easy for use. In a shielded cable, core wires covered by a first insulating layer are sheathed by braided metallic wires on the outer periphery thereof and are further covered by a second insulating layer on the braided metallic wires. The braided metallic wires are exposed at one end of the shielded cable. A hard sleeve-like body is inserted beneath the exposed, braided metallic wires. A conductive sleeve-like body is crimped onto the exposed, braided metallic wires on the one end of the shielded cable. The conductive sleeve-like body crimped on the one end of the shielded cable is attached to a conductive casing by a conductive band or ring when the shielded cable is used. Thus, the braided metallic wires are electrically communicated with the casing.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1999Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Sho Miyazaki

Patent number: 5006668Abstract: According to this invention a central conductor of a probe is connected to that of a coaxial cable by joining a shell and cylindrical metal fitting. An end of an inner insulator of the coaxial cable enters a larger diameter portion of an elastic cylinder which fits in a fixed position of the cylindrical metal fitting, a central conductor of the coaxial cable stretching further to penetrate a narrower diameter portion adjacent to the larger diameter portion. A pin is pressed into the narrower diameter portion from the other side of the larger diameter portion side. By this operation the central conductor is held tightly between the surfaces of the narrower diameter portion and the pin. When the connection of the probe and cylindrical metal fitting is completed, the pin deforms the elastic cylinder so that the central conductor of the probe contacts tightly with the pin, which enables complete conductivity between the central condutors.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1989Date of Patent: April 9, 1991Assignee: Stack Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Noguchi, Kazuo Kawada

The shielding includes a quantity of fusible material on that portion of the shielding outside the second member. The device is partially recovered to secure the shielding between the members but not sufficiently recovered to melt the fusible material or fully recover the first member.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1982Date of Patent: December 18, 1984Assignee: Raychem CorporationInventor: Henry E. Patent number: 4468080Abstract: For cable termination, a metal plate is fit into the open cable-receiving end of either a connector plug or receptacle. One or more openings in the plate include hollow metal tubes conductively secured to the plate. A set of cable wires within a grounded shield have a shield end portion peeled back preliminary to the wires being passed through one of the tubes and connected to an appropriate connector contact. The peeled-back shield end portion extends over the tube. A ring of solder about the shield affixes it to the tube. Optionally, an aluminum ring may be clamped over the shield sleeve by an electric current operated cryo ring. In another shield connection technique, an oversized ferrule is crimped onto the shield. An elongated tapered cylindrical adapter has one end of a diameter enabling fitting receipt onto the connector open end and a recessed shoulder for engaging edge portions of the connection plate to secure it in place.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1981Date of Patent: August 28, 1984Assignee: Automation Industries, Inc.Inventor: Michael K. Patent number: 4423620Abstract: A flexible lightweight short pulse power cable assembly for electrical power transmission, e.g., for transmission of electrical power at 20,000 volts at short pulse D.C. halfwave currents of 30,000 amperes. The cable for electrical transmission utilizes an inner conductor and an outer concentrically disposed conductor, the inner and outer conductors having substantially equal cross-sectional areas and consequent resistances to equal and opposite current flows in the respective conductors thereby placing the cable current forces in compressive balance and further reducing electro-magnetic interference from transmission of power through the cable.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1981Date of Patent: January 3, 1984Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Franciscus Hogenhout, Arthur W. Patent number: 4421377Abstract: A connector for a coaxial cable having a dielectric and an outer conductor supported by the dielectric comprises a bushing that can be emplaced between the dielectric and the outer conductor, a tension member that acts radially inward upon the outer conductor so that mechanical contact is made between the outer conductor and the outer surface of the bushing. The bushing has at least one axial slot. A cut leading edge of the outer conductor is inserted through the slot from the inner surface of the bushing after the bushing is placed over the outer conductor. The bushing and slot are configured so that the outer conductor passes through the slot and wraps around the bushing upon relative rotation of the bushing and the coaxial cable.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1981Date of Patent: December 20, 1983Inventor: Georg Spinner

Patent number: 4416501Abstract: A terminal for establishing electrical contact with the conductive shield of a cable having an aluminized Mylar.RTM. layer surrounded by an outer braid and then a layer of insulation forming a jacket. A ferrule is inserted between the outer braid and the Mylar.RTM. and is locked in place by an insulator displacement device which penetrates the insulation jacket to establish electrical contact with the shield.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1981Date of Patent: November 22, 1983Assignee: E. Patent number: 4381425Abstract: A cable joint box having a tubular enclosure which is closed at each end by members which permit a cable to pass therethrough. The end members and tubular member employ sealing devices to seal one to the other and crossbars are provided between and connected to the end members.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1981Date of Patent: April 26, 1983Inventors: Milenko Maricevic, Janko Adamovic, Zdravko Maricevic
