Patent number: 4458099Abstract: A three-phase combined type gas insulated bus is disclosed which comprises at least one eddy current conductor for passing the eddy current caused secondarily by the current flowing in high voltage conductors, thus solving the problem of a newly-found phenomenon that the temperature of a sealed casing increases by the flow of the eddy current. This eddy current conductor is made of such a material of good electrical conductivity as aluminum or copper. Even in the case where the sealed casing is reduced in diameter to such an extent as to pose a problem of temperature increase by the eddy current flow, the eddy current is reduced or completely eliminated in the best case, so that the sealed casing can be made of a low cost soft steel.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1981Date of Patent: July 3, 1984Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Susumu Takeuti, Minoru Sakaguchi, Takanobu Aoyama, Kazuaki Oishi

Patent number: 4281213Abstract: A bus conductor with a cylindrical external surface is supported on an insulator by first and second bus-supporting members, each comprising spaced legs and flanges at the free ends of the legs. The bus-supporting members embrace the bus conductor when the flanges are in juxtaposition. One set of flanges is fastened together by fastening means comprising a screw extending between the flanges and threaded into one of the flanges and a nut positioned between the flanges and threaded onto the screw. The nut is axially movable on the screw between first and second positions. When in the first position, the nut is tightened on the screw against the juxtaposed flange of one of the bus-supporting members, thereby locking the flanges in a fixed-joint position. When in the second position, the nut is tightened on the screw against the juxtaposed flange of the other bus-supporting member, thereby locking the flanges in a slip-joint position.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1980Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Philip Sciscione

Patent number: 4250350Abstract: To assure safety, an expansion joint in an electrical system must have grounding continuity. A telescoping unit is provided using a braided-conductor bond inside the joint thereby protecting it from ambient contaminants. A high integrity ground continuity is assured even if the conduit is painted or becomes corroded. Selected components are proportioned with respect to each other to assure accurate component alignment with no possibility of relative movement, during assembly, which would endanger ground continuity. Stop means are incorporated in the design to limit the twisting of the grounding jumper during assembly.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1979Date of Patent: February 10, 1981Assignee: General Signal CorporationInventor: Robert F.
