  • Publication number: 20090071720
Abstract: A highly mobile and capable oil, gas and geothermal well drilling rig is shown which provides for the rapid placement, assembly, disassembly, and repositioning of various rig components of the drilling rig The drilling rig includes a support base and working floor which is trailerable and which can be rapidly erected to a working height at the well site. A special drawworks trailer both transports the drawworks and the rig derrick. Hydraulic cylinders on the drawworks trailer are used to move the derrick from a horizontal, transport position to a vertical, working position. At the same time, the weight of the derrick is off-loaded from the drawworks trailer to the base support structure. The selection and arrangement of the various rig components provides a faster set up and take down operation than was previously obtained.

  • Patent number: 7111689
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting an injector assembly, such as an injector and a BOP, for coiled tubing to a wellhead may have a platform, such as a trailer, having a shaft attached thereto by at least one bracket. Pivotally on the bracket may be a boom, which may have telescopic sections, and at least one member, which may have a substantially boomerang shape. The member may be attachable to the bracket by an extendable boom fold actuator, and may be attachable to the boom via an extendable boom operating actuator. By selectively extending and contracting the boom fold actuators and the boom operating actuators, the boom may be selectively positioned between a transport mode, a vertical mode, and an operating mode. In this way, one assembly may be used to transport the coiled tubing and the injector assembly for connection to the wellhead, thus minimizing rig-up or set up time.

Abstract: A restraining arrangement for limiting the separation of a feed table having a pivot pin and a positioner block of a mobile track drill. The restraining arrangement includes a first constraint device positioned on the positioner block and a second constraint device secured to the feed table. The first constraint device, consisting of a bushing having a pair of extending ears, is retained within a pair of female constraint members each having a recessed groove. The recessed groove formed in each of the pair of female constraint members is sized to receive the extending ears to allow the bushing and the female constraint members to rotate relative to each other while limiting the separation between the feed table and the positioner block along the rotational axis of the pivot pin.

Abstract: A tong as may be used for a continuous circulation system in a wellbore. The tong has a housing with a hollow interior. A plurality of spaced apart jaw assemblies reside within the housing's hollow interior for engaging a portion of a tubular to be gripped and rotated by the tong. A gear wheel is secured to the housing for rotating the housing and the jaw assemblies. The gear wheel includes a toothed outer circumference for mating with teeth of a drive shaft of a driving motor. A gear flange is movably mounted on the gear wheel such that rotation of the gear wheel does not rotate the gear flange.

Abstract: The invention is a new drill for making micropiles, equipped with a mast on which the head-carrying trolley slides and having at the bottom of the mast two pairs of vices, a lower fixed vice and a upper unscrewing vice. Besides being able to rotate around the drilling axis, the unscrewing vice is able to move along said mast with respect to the lower fixed vice. The advantages are considerable, since it is no longer necessary to dismantle the rod and the covering during the extraction stages.

A gear pinion is pivotally attached to a top end of the hydraulic cylinder. A first gear rack is fixedly attached to a tower, and a second gear rack is fixedly attached to a drive head. The gear pinion floats between the two gear racks, thus, producing multiplication when the hydraulic cylinder is actuated. This allows the use of a shorter hydraulic cylinder and results in a smaller overall stakedown assembly height.

Abstract: In a method for producing and widening ground bores or for the destructive replacement of buried lines with the aid of a tool arranged at the end of a rod driven by a boring device, the rod is built up from individual sections which are to be connected to one another in a machine excavation (staring excavation). In order to allow the use even of rod sections whose length is equal or almost equal to the diameter of the machine excavation, the boring device, prior to the introduction of a new rod section, is displaced, for example inclined, in such a manner that the rod section can be slid into the boring device, for example from outside the excavation, without interference from the rear end, projecting into the machine excavation, of a rod section which has already been introduced into the ground. As soon as the rod section has been slid in, the boring device together with the rod section is moved into a position in which it is aligned with the boring direction or the rod part which is already in the ground.
