Abstract: A Balance Arm with treads or notches on one of its halves with a moveable constant load, for example one or two weights, as the device creates a new method of creating a variable force using a constant load. The scope of application of this device and its method are limitless—it can be applied in all cases where creation of a variable applied force which must change depending on need of the user, with the aid of a constant load, is required. The simplicity of the device and of the method makes it possible to do this smoothly, quickly, reliably, safely, and inexpensively.

Abstract: A weighing serving implement is disclosed. The weighing serving implement has a head to serve food and is mounted to a mount at a pivot point. The pivot point provides a mechanical balance and facilities a rugged and washable design.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for providing a permanent weight management program, and a kit for providing the permanent weight management program. The method includes obtaining health related information of an individual, obtaining at least one goal of the individual related to the health related information, identifying health related habit information that is contrary to the at least one goal of the individual, providing the individual with a permanent weight management plan that includes at least one corrective action with respect to the identified health related habit information and a focus object, and associating the at least one corrective action with the focus object so that the focus object provides a constant reminder to the individual to stay focused on making good lifestyle choices most of the time related to the at least one corrective action.
Abstract: A platform balance includes a first frame support and a second frame support movable relative to the first frame support. At least one counter balance assembly is provided to support the static weight of the first frames support and elements connected thereto. The counterbalance assembly includes a beam and a pivot assembly allowing the beam to pivot. A weight is selectively positionable on the beam. A compliant assembly is supported by the beam on a portion thereof on a side of the pivot assembly opposite the weight. The compliant assembly supports the first frame support. The compliant assembly includes a second pivot assembly and a planar motion assembly coupled to the second pivot assembly.

Abstract: A lightweight, portable scale, including a balance beam pivotally positioned on a fulcrum, contained in a tear-drop shaped carrying case. The portable scale has a load pan on one end of the balance beam and a graduated scale, configured to accommodate sliding weight members, extending toward the opposite end of the balance beam. The fulcrum is positioned between the load pan and the graduated scale. To establish equilibrium, the balance beam includes a stationary counter-weight attached on the load pan side of the fulcrum, which balances the empty load pan against the sliding weight members located at a zero position on the graduated scale. The carrying case has a top portion hingedly attached to a bottom portion, which functions as the base of the portable scale and has sidewalls shorter than the fulcrum, preventing interference by the side walls during the weighing process.
Abstract: A weighing scale detects and indicates changes in a small weight that is embedded within a much larger residual weight. The scale device has a base and a top weighing pan above it, with a linkage supported between the base and the top pan. A counterbalance weight lever is supported on a pivot member, and has one end connected to the linkage, and a counterbalance weight on the other end. An adjustable tensioning spring provides a balancing force for the counterbalance weight lever within the weight range of the critical weight. A potentiometer of other detecting device can provide an electrical signal to an alarm device to warn the consumer that the weight of a consumable quantity has dropped into the critical weight range.
Abstract: A balance-type scale is provided which is made nearly substantially entirely of plastic, thereby being resistant to environmental degradation. A counter-balance weight is of metal, but is embedded within the plastic. The scale is of two-part construction, comprising a body including the counter weight and a hook-like structure at the opposite end. A suspension member is pivotally connected to the body, and comprises a pair of spaced plates embracing the body. The suspension member includes a pointer, and the body is provided with indicia to be read opposite the pointer and readable directly in units of weight.
Abstract: An electronic scale used for weighing an object or material. The scale includes a weighing platform arranged to move upon receipt of a material thereon. The device further includes support means, a variable capacitor having a first and a second plate, spring means which is coupled both to the frame means and to the platform means such that movement of the platform means upon receipt of the material thereon causes the spring means to twist about an axis. The scale further includes counterbalancing means and energy absorbing connecting means to prevent error from being introduced into the weighing process, should vibrational moments be transmitted to the scale from its external environment. An alternative embodiment of the invention entails a flexure base scale, adapted to be used with counterbalancing means.
Abstract: A device which includes a frame supporting a lever arm for tiltable movement about a horizontal axis intermediate the ends thereof and, more particularly, to an improved apparatus for nullifying the effects of angular acceleration of such frame relative to its lever arm which comprises a counterweight and hanger means for suspending the counterweight between the frame and arm which cooperate with one another under the influence of inertial forces tending to angularly accelerate one relative to the other by generating an offsetting inertial force operative to maintain a condition of stable equilibrium therebetween.
