Scale Bearings Patents (Class 177/DIG9)
  • Patent number: 4148371
Abstract: An improved load cell scale which comprises a load supporting frame pivotally carried upon levers which bear upon a load cell on the frame and, are in turn, pivoted upon fulcrum pins. All pivot pins are journaled in oversized bores formed in the levers so as to rock the pins with a slight rolling motion in the bores under load-induced pivotal action, rather than with rotation about the pin axis.

  • Patent number: 4134467
Abstract: A low profile platform scale having a rigid rectangular platform and a base assembly, supporting the platform, adapted to rest on an underlying foundation and having four independent corner pads, each with beam load cells mounted in cantilever fashion on the corner pads, with the load cell elements coupled to the platform in an arrangement where the load on the platform is transmitted to the load cell elements by means of a tension member. The tension member is connected by ball and socket means to both the platform and the load cell element. The corner pads are connected to each other by slightly flexible, inelastic rods arranged beneath and adjacent borders of the platform in a rectangular array, and fastened to adjacent corner pads for fixing the spacing between them. The underlying corner pads operate independently and accommodate locally irregular surfaces causing any one of the corner pads to be slightly tilted without affecting the accuracy of response of the load cell.

  • Patent number: 4133455
Abstract: Weighing apparatus for continuously weighing a throughpassing layer of fiber material in a metering device of a spinning preparatory machine with two pairs of rolls arranged at a distance from one another for supplying the layer of fiber material to and for taking-off the layer of fiber material from a measuring zone between the pairs of rolls. There are provided two weighing plates, each of which is pivotable about an axle and connected with a measuring signal transmitter, the signal of which depends on the pivoting angle of the plate. An endless belt which contactingly glides across the weighing plates and which is driven at the speed of movement of the layer of fiber material is provided for transporting the layer of fiber material.

  • Patent number: 4113040
Abstract: A null balance transducer which is useful in analytical balances. The transducer features a first and second band which support the balance beam of the scale, and which shoulder most of the weight. A third band is also connected to the balance beam, and is responsive to the pivoting of the balance beam. A pair of strain gages are mounted to the third band to detect the balance condition of the balance beam. The strain gages provide accurate results, since the third band is not substantially influenced by weight loading of the balance beam.

  • Patent number: 4050531
Abstract: A low-cost rugged beam balance weighing scale with an automatically aligning point contact support mechanism. The beam balance is supported centrally of a base and a pair of balance pans are each supported on opposite ends of the beam, with all supports employing a tapered male member terminating in a rounded point and a female member having a recess for receiving the rounded point of the male member. The radius of curvature of the central region of the recess is greater than the radius of curvature of the mating rounded point to ensure point contact support therebetween.Automatic alignment is provided by providing a loose fit between a coupling portion of either the male or the female member and a corresponding mounting aperture in an appropriate support region of the base, beam or balance pan, the aperture being oval and oriented with the maximum inner dimension normal to the longitudinal axis of the beam balance. Several alternate equivalent arrangements are shown for the point contact support elements.

  • Patent number: 4037675
Abstract: A leaf spring weighing scale is described which uses load cells to measure the deflection of the load support. The load cells are arranged in tandem. One of the load cells is a low range deflection reading cell, and the other load cell is a high range measuring cell. Each of the load cells is bottomed before it reaches its deflection limit to prevent damage to the cell. A point contact connection between the load support and the load cells eliminates errors caused by lateral forces, and errors due to the non-linearities in the load support deflection. The leaf springs of the scale are constructed as thin strips to eliminate the effects of "oil canning", and to reduce structural and assembly inaccuracies.

  • Patent number: 4027736
Abstract: A load-weighing device for indicating the weight of a load is provided for attachment to the load-carrying member of a lifting device. The load-weighing device includes a frame connected to the load-carrying member and a bearing block mounted in the frame for rotation relative to the load-carrying member. A clearance space is provided between the lower surface of the bearing block and the frame which is eliminated upon the application of a load. A bearing member is also mounted in the frame and includes a cylindrically-shaped lower surface which is arranged to abut a cylindrically-shaped upper surface of the bearing block. The bearing member is provided with a recess for receiving a pressure-sensitive member so that when a load is lifted by the load-carrying member, the force of the load is transferred to the pressure-sensitive member which operates to provide a load-measuring value to a receiver.

  • Patent number: 3974889
Abstract: In a wheel cleaner for the cleaning of truck wheels solely by centrifugal action, a weigh beam is incorporated whereby the individual axle loadings and the total weight of the truck can be determined. At the center of a wheel cleaner frame that is set into the ground, pairs of transverse horizontal rollers are provided on which the truck wheels can be spun to throw off mud, stones etc. At the end of the frame a transverse weigh beam, having its top surface substantially at the same level as the tops of the rollers and the frame members, is carried for limited downward travel on end suspension mountings each incorporating a load cell. The load cells give analogue electrical signals that are converted to digital form and processed to derive individual axle loadings and vehicle payload.
