  • Patent number: 4121048
Abstract: A full-roll electronic keyboard having upper and lower case capabilities is disclosed. The keyboard includes a shift key which when depressed will generate first and second coded signals with the first signal utilized to indicate the start of a shift operation. Upon release of the shift key, the first and second coded signals are again generated with the first signal again being used to indicate the end of a shift operation. The first coded signals generated by the movement of the shift key informs a processing unit that any character key on the keyboard depressed between the generation of the two first coded signals will be shifted from the lower to the upper case. The shift key circuit includes an inverter which is utilized in the generation of the first and second coded signals upon the operation of the shift key.

  • Patent number: 4064388
Abstract: A decoder clutching system for use in a minicomputer such as the Burroughs Series-L or TC-Series minicomputer is employed to reduce noise and extend the life of the decoder while minimizing power consumption. An electromagnetic master clutch is secured to a main motor which enables a decoder to be intermittently driven in response to decoder alert or command signals representing anticipated binary to decimal conversion by the decoder. The motor operates continuously so as to drive the decoder only when the electromagnetic master clutch is energized and to release the drive to the decoder when the master clutch is de-energized.

  • Patent number: 4016365
Abstract: A recording typewriter of the type including a memory arranged to record codes corresponding to typed characters as they are typed, and to drive the typewriter to type characters corresponding to stored codes. A single line readout is provided, preferably positioned between the typewriter keyboard and roller so as to be easily accessible to the view of an operator. The readout displays a selected line of characters as recorded in the memory. The particular line to be displayed is selected in dependence upon the typewriter elements associated with line control, such as the position or change of position of the typewriter roller or the actuation of the carriage return control. The system provides an economical and effective means of accessing stored data, allowing correction of stored documents, for example, to be easily accomplished.

  • Patent number: 3983325
Abstract: A method is described for establishing character frame synchronism between a teletypewriter transmitter and receiver wherein the direction of transmission is unidirectional. The transmitter sends character signals identifying characters of the alphabet or the like and operating condition signals corresponding to the operation condition of the transmitter. The operating condition signals are processed in a code converter which allocates code words to them permitting recognition of the character frame. The code words are transmitted to the receiver wherein a clock signal is derived by means of a character frame discriminator. The code words are reconverted in the receiver in order to cancel the code conversion which took place at the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 3937884
Abstract: Code control equipment especially for a typewriter intended for handicapped persons comprising a receiver of control signals having short and long impulses, a decoder, and circuits able to control various functions, characterised in that it comprises electronic integrating equipment, memory store equipment and comparison equipment which interprets for each coded control signal the significance of each element of the coded signal so that the control of functions is rendered practically independent of the rate at which the elements of the coded signal are given and of their absolute duration.
