Spray Deflector Patents (Class 180/123)
  • Patent number: 11366326
Abstract: A relative movement of a head-wearable electronic display device is determined with respect to a vehicle interior of a vehicle by way of a recording device arranged on the electronic display device and a virtual perspective of a wearer of the electronic display device is adapted to virtual content according to the determined relative movement. A recording range of the recording device is limited to the vehicle interior in order to eliminate distortions, resulting from a relative movement of the vehicle with respect to the vehicle surroundings, with regard to the recording of the relative movement of the electronic display device with respect to the vehicle interior.

  • Patent number: 10848720
Abstract: A vehicle monitoring apparatus is described, comprising: a vehicle state detector detecting whether the vehicle is in a parking state; a motion detection sensor detecting whether an object is moving relative to the vehicle; an image recorder recording image data relating to the surrounding environment of the vehicle; a touch sensor sensing whether the object is touching the vehicle; a main control unit configured to: start the motion detection sensor when the vehicle state detector detects that the vehicle is in a parking state, turn on the image recorder and the touch sensor when the motion detection sensor detects that an object is moving with respect to the vehicle, and trim the image data recorded during a predetermined time period when the touch sensor senses that the object is touching the vehicle, the predetermined time period comprising the duration of the object being in touch with the vehicle; and a storage storing the trimmed image data.

  • Patent number: 7404465
Abstract: A cruise control system for an electric wheelchair includes: a drive unit for driving the electric wheelchair; a user control unit for transmitting user control signals; a controller selectively operable in a normal control mode for controlling the drive unit such that a speed of the electric wheelchair is adjusted in accordance with the user control signals; and a current detecting unit for detecting a load current of the electric wheelchair and outputting a corresponding current signal. The controller has parameter relation information loaded therein, and is further selectively operable in a cruise control mode for controlling the drive unit with reference to the current signal and the parameter relation information to maintain the speed of the electric wheelchair within a desired speed range.

  • Patent number: 7204672
Abstract: A multi-modal forced vortex device is described having a top plate and a side wall creating a partially enclosed volume. The top plate includes one or more adjustable fluid openings to permit, or restrict, fluid flow into and out of the partially enclosed volume. Rotating blades housed within the partially enclosed volume are manipulated (through control of their pitch and, possibly, their speed) in conjunction with the adjustable fluid openings to generate a variable magnitude attractive force in a first mode, a variable magnitude down or pushing force in a second mode, a variable magnitude up or lifting force in a third mode or variable magnitude yaw, pitch and roll forces in a fourth mode.

  • Patent number: 6634418
Abstract: An radiator and charge-air-cooling package made up of two air cooled heat exchangers: a radiator and a charge-air-cooler, the heat exchangers being attached to one another directly or indirectly and then attachable to a chassis or body of the vehicle. The two heat exchangers are both longer than wide with each having center cooling areas. Each heat exchanger has cooling cores in which their coolant flows. Air passes across these cooling cores when the vehicle moves to cool the coolant. The long sides of each of the heat exchangers are geometrically out of synch with the other. With the center cooling areas of each of the heat exchangers overlapping each other, at least one end of each heat exchanger may be unfettered by air flow the other heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 5535691
Abstract: A spray suppressor for an air cushion vehicle comprising inflatable loop elements fixed to the air cushion seal finger sleeves and positioned immediately outward from the air cushion boundary. The elements are pressurized to a pressure less than the air cushion and greater than the ambient pressure to capture spray and supplement the seal performance.

  • Patent number: 5005660
Abstract: A propulsion air stream deflecting apparatus for an air cushion vehicle having a hull, an air duct mounted on the hull and a propeller fan, includes a plurality of rudders, each mounted on the hull adjacent to the rear open end of the duct for pivotal movement about a vertical axis. The rudders are adapted to close the rear open end of the air duct. A rudder control mechanism is operatively connected to the rudders for controlling the pivotal movement of the rudders to selectively provide a propulsion thrust and a steering thrust to the hull and to provide a closed position in which the rear open end of the air duct is closed by the rudders. A flap is pivotably mounted at the rear end thereof to the duct such that the flap closes an opening, formed at the rear end of the air duct, at a closed position thereof where the inner face of the flap is substantially flush with the inner surface of the air duct.

  • Patent number: 4223755
Abstract: To reduce the amount of water or other surface material issuing at the periphery of an air cushion vehicle, a flexible barrier is suspended at the vehicle periphery lateral to the cushion containing means--usually a flexible skirt. The spray or other material is trapped between the vehicle periphery and the barrier, with water or other material dropping down and air venting through apertures at the top of the barrier. Weight can be added to the lower part of the barrier to assist in maintaining the barrier down.

  • Patent number: 4158399
Abstract: The invention pertains to apparatus for preventing the flooding of an enclosed plenum chamber pressurized by a source of pressurized gas provided through a duct system leading from a plenum chamber open to the surface of the water over which the ship rides. The inlet to the duct system located within the open plenum chamber is formed to reject by deflection a substantial quantity of water adjacent the inlet from entry. Any small amount of water entering the duct that is not initially rejected from the inlet is ramped through the duct and collected in a stern holding tank. The holding tanks include a float controlled water exhaust valve that opens to the atmosphere and exhausts that collected water therein with the aid of plenum pressure. Any water reaching the closed plenum chamber is constantly exhausted therefrom through apertures in its walls. An additional embodiment is disclosed that prevents substantially all water from entering the enclosed plenum chamber.
