Vehicle Drive Drives Other Vehicle Wheel Patents (Class 180/14.7)
  • Patent number: 10421535
Abstract: The invention is a drive system for rotating a wheel of an aircraft landing gear. The drive system includes a motor operable to rotate a drive pinion via a drive path, and a driven gear adapted to be mounted to the wheel. The drive system has a first configuration in which the drive pinion is capable of meshing with the driven gear to permit the motor to drive the driven gear via the drive path. The drive path has an input shaft having an axis of rotation spaced from an axis of rotation of an output shaft. The output shaft is operable to pivot about the axis of rotation of the input shaft. Also, an aircraft landing gear having a wheel and the drive system, where the driven gear of the drive system is mounted to the wheel.

  • Patent number: 9422053
Abstract: A ground propulsion assembly for an aircraft includes an axle, a wheel rotatably connected to the axle, and a transmission. The transmission includes a housing mounted proximate the axle and a drive element disposed at least partially outside of the housing and operatively connected to a power input. A mounting bar extends between the axle and the transmission and a mounting bar first end is rigidly connected to the axle, and the transmission is pivotally connected to a mounting bar second end. A spring is disposed between the transmission and the axle and the spring is configured to urge the drive element out of engagement with the wheel. An actuator is operatively connected between the transmission and the axle, and is configured to selectively generate a force in opposition to the disengagement spring such that the drive element moves relative the wheel and operatively engages the wheel.

  • Patent number: 6880651
Abstract: An articulated vehicle is made up of two independently moveable vehicle bodies, for instance tracked vehicle bodies. The first vehicle body has an engine and the second one has a motor/generator. An articulation device connects them to allow the first vehicle body to drive the second vehicle body or vice versa or even for them to act together. A drive transmission that can be used in the vehicle allows power to be input from two shafts or for one of the shafts to be an additional power output. An articulation device that can be used in the vehicle allows quick alignment and/or coupling and decoupling of the two bodies.

  • Patent number: 6695328
Abstract: A split-frame vehicle in which the front and rear sub-frames may rotate relative to one another along a longitudinal axis that runs generally parallel to the ground. In one embodiment, the vehicle includes a locking mechanism operatively coupled between the front and rear sub-frames. The locking mechanism is operative between a locked position in which the sub-frames are rigidly coupled and an unlocked position in which the sub-frames are free to rotate relative to one another. In a second embodiment, the vehicle includes an axial rotator joint connected between the sub-frames. The joint includes a first bearing plate connected to the front sub-frame and a second bearing plate connected to the second sub-frame. The faces of each bearing plate bear on one another and define the rotational interface between the sub-frames. A drive shaft extends through an opening in the center of each bearing plate.
