  • Patent number: 11359571
Abstract: The inhibition device includes a micro-controller configured with a triggering condition including a number of intervals and, for each interval, a corresponding duration and a corresponding threshold. Each interval is a range specifying how much the vehicle's acceleration pedal has changed its position in terms of percentages of a pedal stroke. Each duration specifies the fastest time duration allowable for the acceleration pedal to attain a corresponding interval of pedal position change. The micro-controller converts progress signals of the acceleration pedal to corresponding percentages, obtains a difference DEF between the successive percentages, records a time duration RES between successive progress signals, and calculates DEF/RES=X. When X is greater than or equal to a threshold of a corresponding interval, the micro-controller sends an idle signal to the vehicle's engine control unit or intercepts the progress signals to prevent them from reaching the engine control unit.

  • Patent number: 10435084
Abstract: An active front deflector assembly having a deflector panel, actuator, and linkage assemblies each with a predetermined ratio of the links to each other for motion of the deflector panel. The assembly deploys and retracts based on vehicle requirements, and, when deployed, redirects the air flow in the front of the vehicle to improve the vehicle aerodynamics for either fuel economy or performance characteristics. Additionally, it allows for the deflector panel to retract so the vehicle meets ground clearances, etc. The deflector panel is also both rigid and semi-rigid to absorb impact energy. The drive shaft transmits the drive from the actuator coupled to one linkage assembly to the other linkage assembly for moving the deflector panel between the deployed/retracted positions. The actuator is clutched to prevent damage to the system.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing vertical lift in a vehicle. In one embodiment, two sets of trans-flow fans discharge air through multi-directional vane assemblies that direct the discharged air outward and downward. Each one of the sets of fans is positioned on opposite sides of the vehicle. The multi-directional vane assemblies include vertical vanes that direct the discharged air fore and aft and horizontal vanes that direct the discharged air downward at various angles. In one embodiment, the vehicle includes a hovercraft skirt and a portion of the discharge air is directed into the skirt, causing the vehicle lift vertically on a cushion of air. In one such embodiment, a flow director controls the amount of discharged air flowing through the inlet to the volume defined by the skirt.

Abstract: A lithium titanate has the following formula: Li4Ti5O12?x wherein x is greater than 0. The lithium titanate is formed by providing a mixture of titanium dioxide and a lithium-based component. The mixture is sintered in a gaseous atmosphere comprising a reducing agent to form the lithium titanate having the above formula. A lithium-based cell includes an electrolyte, an anode, and a cathode, with at least one of the anode and the cathode comprising the lithium titanate having the above formula. The lithium titanate is deficient of oxygen, which increases electronic conductivity of the lithium titanate by at least three orders over electronic conductivity of a stoichiometric lithium titanate, while avoiding loss of reversible electric power-generating capacity that typically occurs when doping is used to replace titanium in the lithium titanate with atoms that provide higher electronic conductivity.

Abstract: An exhauster baffle is provided that may be used to prohibit fluid flow through a cavity except when a pressure on one side of the exhauster baffle is greater than a pressure on another side of the exhauster baffle. The exhauster baffle includes a body portion defining an opening, a sealer disposed on the body portion, and a flap disposed over the opening for regulating fluid flow through the opening. In one embodiment, the flap exposes the opening of the body portion to allow fluid to flow through the cavity when the pressure on one side of the exhauster baffle greater than the pressure on another side of the baffle to equalize pressure.

Abstract: A work comfort evaluating device is a device for evaluating a level of comfort of work by measuring myoelectric potentials of plural muscles when the work is done by antagonistic activities of the muscles. The device has a pair of detecting sensors, an amplifier, a signal processing part, a work-load intensity calculating part, and an evaluation part. The sensors sense myoelectric potentials of the muscles at a time of the work. The signal processing part calculates a synchronous contraction intensity of the muscles by using myoelectric potential waveforms. The work-load intensity calculating part calculates a level of a work load intensity in the work. The evaluation part evaluates a level of comfort of the work by normalizing the synchronous contraction intensity by the level of the work load intensity calculated.

  • Patent number: RE47647
Abstract: An mechanical power system provides torque without using a heat engine where fossil-fuel engines have conventionally been used, by replacing the fossil-fuel burning engine with a rotary pneumatic motor and feeding pressure-regulated compressed gas to the rotary pneumatic motor. The rotary pneumatic motor can be used anywhere, and requires preferably compressed nitrogen in a non-liquid state. Automotive, marine and electrical generating applications are adaptable, and auxiliary power is available for emergencies where a supply of compressed gas has been exhausted. A screw-type compressor can be electrically powered to supply compressed gas to the pneumatic motor where tanks of compressed gas have been exhausted. An electrical generating power plant includes an array of solar panels for generating direct current (DC) and a DC/AC converter for converting the DC to alternating current (AC) and outputting a portion of the AC via a power plant output port to supply an AC load.
