  • Patent number: 8613334
Abstract: In a fuel cell system, a compressor used for supply of a gas and a motor are arranged to be opposed to each other across a transmission mechanism, such that a motor driveshaft is placed to face rotating shafts of the compressor. Such opposed arrangement enables the motor and the compressor to be relatively close to each other across only a narrow distance required for the transmission mechanism. Additionally, a circulation pump used for supply of a coolant is placed, such that the motor driving force is transmitted from the motor driveshaft to the circulation pump directly or via the transmission mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8546035
Abstract: Provided is a fuel cell system capable of ensuring responsiveness during acceleration even when a motor with a smaller torque as compared to the related art is used. A control apparatus reduces the revolution speeds of motors of an air compressor, a circulation pump and a cooling pump by a coasting operation, without performing a regenerative control, when a load required from a fuel cell (electrical power required by various motors and auxiliary apparatuses) is being reduced and a travel speed is equal to or higher than a set speed. With such a configuration, even when a driver later reaccelerates a vehicle by, for example, pressing down an accelerator, required acceleration force is smaller as compared to the related art, and thus a motor with a small torque can be employed.

Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle with two separate drive systems. High speed operation is powered by self frequency ramping alternating current motors 107 within the wheel rims. Low speed operation is powered by hydraulic motors 102 directly coupled to the drive wheels. The hydraulic oil is pressurized by direct current motors/pumps 302 & 309 energized by a battery pack 106. The alternating current motors 107 are energized by mechanical or electronically generated alternating current. The hybrid power source is either a combustion engine 406 driving a poly-phased alternator 501 or a fuel cell 600 providing direct current. In the case of the combustion engine 406, a direct current helper motor/generator 404 will augment the engine with power from the battery pack 106 under large demands and charge the battery pack 106 under small demands. In the case of a fuel cell 600, the cell is augmented by the battery pack 106 under large demands and charges the battery pack 106 under small or no demands.

  • Patent number: 8479859
Abstract: The motive power of a hybrid vehicle is the driving power of a gasoline engine, the electric power produced by a generator coupled to the engine, and the electric power obtained by conversion from kinetic energy into electric energy through a regeneration brake during deceleration. Also, an electric vehicle uses the electric power of a battery as its motive power by converting kinetic energy into electric energy through a regeneration brake during deceleration and storing the electric energy. However, the regenerated energy is little. While keeping intact the damping effect of shock absorbers conventionally mounted on the suspension of a vehicle, an oil pump function is added. The electric power produced by storing, in an accumulator, oil pressure-fed from the shock absorbers, driving a hydraulic motor under increased oil pressure, driving a generator coupled to the hydraulic motor is used as part of the motive power.
