  • Patent number: 11962972
Abstract: To enhance a sound image localization effect and to ensure a good viewing state in which an image or video and audio have a sense of unity. Provided is a display in which an image is displayed in a display surface, a rear cover disposed on a rear side of the display, a first speaker disposed between the display and the rear cover, and a second speaker disposed between the display and the rear cover and positioned higher than the first speaker. The second speaker outputs audio according to operation of a piezoelectric element, and has a higher audio output band than the first speaker. This enables a user to feel as if the audio is being output from the display being viewed, which enhances the sound image localization effect and ensures a good viewing state in which an image or video and audio have a sense of unity.

  • Patent number: 11630298
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various forms of prime polygon reflectors. In its various forms it is a device of predetermined geometric shape with aspects and scalable dimensions derived from a prime number and its mathematical square root. Geometric shapes based on the prime polygon have reflective surfaces that cause multiple internal reflections of incident waveform energy. In some forms the reflectors are truncated comprising arrayed truncated prime polygon reflectors. When used in conjunction with or absent absorptive media, coatings, or linings, they reject passage of electromagnetic energy within a band that varies with reflector size and can be used with or without a ground. Applications include but are not limited to acoustic, solar, and radar energy absorption, as well as passive barriers for reduction of electromagnetic radiation exposure, and bandwidth-tunable panels for architectural electromagnetic shielding.

The electronic device may include a vent feature to allow air to pass through the vent feature such that the air reaches a component in the electronic device. The vent feature may include a first vent structure and a second vent structure, both of which combine to confine the compound. When the water-based solution passes through an electronic device opening, the water-based solution may reach the first vent structure. If a surface tension is sufficiently low, the water-based solution may pass through the first vent structure. However, the water-based solution may then reach the compound causing the compound to dissociate, forming form positive and negative ions that attract molecules of the water-based solution. Then, the water-based solution surface tension increases and does not pass through the first vent structure or the second vent structure.

Abstract: A three-dimensional air-adsorbing structure for use in a volume in which there is a time-varying acoustic field. The structure has a three-dimensional, unitary, skeletal, porous scaffold having scaffold openings distributed within its volume, where the scaffold openings make up at least about 50% of the volume of the scaffold, air-adsorbing material particles, and a hydrophobic binder that couples air-adsorbing material particles to each other to form agglomerates and couples particles and agglomerates to the scaffold. The structure has structure openings in the agglomerates and structure openings between agglomerates, such structure openings being open to the outside environment, wherein the cumulative volume of the structure openings that have an apparent diameter larger than about 0.

  • Patent number: 8776944
Abstract: An opening is formed in a ceiling lining of a vehicle cabin part. The diameter of the opening in the ceiling lining is smaller than a diameter of a speaker, which has a frame. The speaker is disposed at the opening, and a fixing screw is inserted into a fixing aperture formed in a central part of the speaker. A fixing screw is screwed to a screw hole formed in a reinforcing brace positioned at an inner side of a top plate proximate the ceiling of the vehicle. A central part of the speaker is fixed to the reinforcing brace while a circumferential periphery of the frame is pressed against a peripheral edge of the opening in the ceiling lining via a frame interposing material.

  • Patent number: 8627919
Abstract: A speaker has a speaker unit and a box. The speaker unit has a speaker unit side terminal. The box includes a casing having an internal space, and a box side terminal arranged in the casing so as to be in close contact with the casing. Under the condition that the speaker unit is housed in the internal space, a first terminal serving as one of the speaker unit side terminal and the box side terminal has a projection, a second terminal serving as the other thereof surrounds and sandwiches an outer periphery of the projection from at least both sides, and the first terminal and the second terminal are electrically connected with soldering. Thus, it is possible to obtain the speaker which can improve workability on a connection between the speaker unit and the box and save a space, and the portable information terminal provided with the speaker.

  • Patent number: 8558708
Abstract: A battery-powered supplemental alert generator is disclosed that is adapted to be mounted in close proximity to, such as within 3 or 4 feet of, a conventional smoke, heat and/or fire detector/alert device. The supplemental alert generator operates in a relatively low power mode while listening for the nearby detector/alert device to generate a standard audible alert signal. Upon detecting that a monitored sound level has reached a particular threshold, the supplemental alert generator enters into a higher power analysis mode in which it analyzes the detected signal to assess whether it is an audible alert signal. If an audible alert signal is detected, the supplemental alert generator generates one or more supplemental alert signals, such as a 520 Hz audible square wave signal. The supplemental alert generator may be used to retrofit a house, hotel, or other building to comply with new standards or to otherwise increase the effectiveness of the existing detection/alert system.

  • Patent number: 8360201
Abstract: A sound absorber is formed by covering the opening of a housing with a vibration member having a flat shape or a film shape so as to define an air layer therebetween. The sound absorber is attached to the wall of a room such that the vibration member is positioned opposite to the wall with a prescribed space therebetween. Sound generated in the room particularly in low frequencies enters into the space between the vibration member and the wall so as to cause vibration of the vibration member due to the pressure difference between the sound pressure applied to the space and the internal pressure of the air layer, thus consuming energy of sound waves. Thus, it is possible to efficiently absorb low-frequency sound with a reduced thickness of the air layer.
