Abstract: A vehicle resonator structure and attachment method is provided and includes a resonator chamber that has a first intake tube and a first exhaust or outlet tube attached thereto. At least one of the tubes includes a projection that can be molded (e.g., via flash molding after the tube itself is blow molded) onto the tube. The resonator chamber can include upper and lower tube mount structures that can be hot plate welded and sandwiched onto the projection in the tube. Thus, the tube(s) is/are positively retained in position with respect to the resonator chamber such that the tuning of the resonator does not change due to fluctuations in geometry of the tube(s) and resonator chamber structure, and such that there is little or no vibration noise and/or possible damage that might result if the tube(s) were free to move with respect to the resonator chamber.

Abstract: A filter assembly configured for acoustic dampening for use with compressor assemblies such as oxygen concentrators including a compartmented housing member having an inlet opening, an outlet opening, a filter member, and a plurality of noise attenuating members positioned and located therewithin. The configuration of the compartmented housing member in conjunction with the positioning and location of the filter member and the noise attenuating members therewithin all contribute to absorb and dissipate any sound waves generated within the housing member due to air flow movement therethrough. This substantially reduces and minimizes noise associated with the present filter assembly.

Abstract: An air induction system for inducting air into an engine of an automobile is disclosed. The air induction system has an air cleaner and an air inlet tube. The air cleaner is in fluid communication with the engine of the automobile for filtering intake air inducted into the engine. The air inlet tube is made of a first material and is connected at a first end to the air cleaner and open to ambient air at a second end. The inlet tube has a flexible portion that flexes as a result of internal pressure pulsations during the air induction event. The flexing reduces or eliminates acoustic standing waves that have significant pressure fluctuations at the same location in the air induction system as the flexible portion.

  • Patent number: 7052247
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a suction muffler for compressors, a compressor with the suction muffler, and an apparatus having a refrigerant circulation circuit including the compressor. The present invention allows an amount of a refrigerant sucked into a compression chamber to be maximized, and allows suction noise generated during a suction stroke to be minimized. The suction muffler includes a refrigerant channel, and an outer casing. The refrigerant channel communicates at an inlet thereof with a suction pipe which guides a refrigerant to a compressor, and controllably communicates at an outlet thereof with a compression chamber in which the refrigerant is compressed. The outer casing has a structure to convert a flowing motion of the refrigerant into a spiral flowing motion while the refrigerant flows from the suction pipe to the inlet. At least one resonance chamber is formed around an outlet of the refrigerant channel.

  • Patent number: 6959678
Abstract: The manufacturing method for the air intake apparatus has a holding-portion forming step, a temporarily fixing step, and a joining step. In the holding-portion forming step, a holding portion is formed. In the temporarily fixing step, the porous member is held by the holding portion. In the joining step, the holding portion and the porous member are joined together. Thus, an air intake apparatus, in which the opening is reliably covered with the porous member, can be manufactured. In the air intake apparatus manufactured by this manufacturing method, a peripheral portion of the porous member is doubly sealed with the holding portion that is an outer edge part of the opening. Consequently, the opening is reliably covered with the porous member, so that intake noise is reliably reduced.
