Abstract: A motorized, climbing tree stand ideal for hunting has a rigid elongated, track constructed from multiple, axially aligned sections attached to a tree trunk. A carriage supporting a seat and footrest is coupled to a shuttle assembly that engages the track. The shuttle assembly mounts a battery-powered motor and a motor-driven gear that engages a toothed rack on the elongated track, moving the carriage vertically upwardly or downwardly in response to motor operation. A hand switch controls a reversing relay to control motor direction. Each track section comprises a rigid, elongated flange with an elongated, tubular sleeve terminating in a reduced diameter coupling tube that coaxially mates with the base of the sleeve in the neighboring section. Alignment rods near the upper ends of each sleeve reinforce the assembly. Adjustable, L-brackets contact the tree for bracing. Abstract: A fall arrest platform includes a platform cooperable with a lifting vehicle and having a floor, safety rails surrounding a perimeter of the floor, and an entrance gate in the side rails. A fall arrest system is integrated with the platform and includes a lanyard securable at one end to a user's harness, a lanyard connection securably receiving an opposite end of the lanyard, and mounting structure secured to the platform that supports the lanyard connection. The mounting structure movably supports the lanyard connection such that the user can move about a periphery of the platform. A compressed air accessory provides additional functionality and convenience. With this platform, a lift machine can be provided with the ability to access elevated surfaces and can also enable a safe work area outside of the machine platform.

  • Patent number: 6814184
Abstract: A high-rigidity structure is formed using vertical column members comprising hollow right cylinders with four integral, radially-projecting, equally-spaced flanges. The flanges have a plurality of holes for mounting structural elements along the length of the columns. A set of platforms may be supported by structure that resides in the space immediately below the platforms, thus access to the platforms is unobstructed by support structure for the platforms above. This arrangement allows the platform to be serviced by hoists from more than one side, and for access from the hoists to be unobstructed.

  • Patent number: 6802391
Abstract: The invention is a loading system, which is a combination adjustable height stairway and a landing platform at one end that can be elevated to the level of the aircraft loading door and a lifting portion for loading articles to and from the landing platform. Both the lifting portion and the adjustable height stairway are side by side and are adapted to move in unison to and from the aircraft and further adapted to independently elevate or descend. The stairway and lifting portion may each be independently operated by at least one hydraulically driven motor. The system can moved to and from the aircraft using a combination of independent drive wheels and swivel wheels in order to provide tight maneuverability of the combined stairway and lifting portion.

Abstract: A submergible activity platform for attachment to an associated structure on a body of water is disclosed. The activity platform for supporting persons engaged in water activities includes a platform area extending outwardly from and alongside the associated structure. A support structure is carried by the activity platform for mounting the activity platform to the associated structure so that the activity platform is located at a desired depth in the water when mounted to the associated structure. A walkway is included in for providing access between the associated structure and the activity platform when submerged. The activity platform includes a water activity section free of the walkway where water activities may take place. The activity platform also includes a plurality of water flow passages for allowing water to flow through the activity platform when submerged to reduce the force of water currents against the activity platform.

  • Patent number: 6761247
Abstract: Scaffolding (10) having safety features for coupling scaffolding structural members so as to prevent equipment damage and worker injury from inadvertent disassembly, while permitting quick assembly and disassembly when desired. The scaffolding (10) incorporating the safety features broadly comprises legs (12); beams (14); a platform (16); coupling braces (18); platform pins (20); and platform clips (22). The first safety feature is a rounded, spring-biased, rotation-limited G-pin for adjustably coupling the beams (14) with the legs (12). The G-pin's rounded shape and a perpendicularly projecting stop (51) minimize risks of inadvertent removal. The second feature is a lockable pin (44) operable to independently couple structural members (12,14) in the event the G-pin is inadvertently removed. The third and fourth features are platform pins (20) and spring-biased platform clips (22) operable to prevent, respectively, undesirable horizontal and vertical movement of the platform (16).

Abstract: A new MODU jacking system can reliably handle loads several times greater than can be currently handled, can be inexpensively designed and readily scaled for different jack-up loads, and can save millions of dollars in the manufacture of a single jack-up MODU. In the new MODU jacking system, a plurality of hydraulic continuous linear motion motors are engaged with a plurality of MODU supporting legs to provide relative motion between the MODU platform and its supporting legs, and to also maintain the MODU platform and MODU supporting legs locked in a stationary relationship. In the new jack-up system, the number of hydraulic piston/cylinder units and the number and design of the teeth that are engaged in providing relative motion may be selected to substantially reduce material stresses on the system.

  • Publication number: 20040069568
Abstract: A mobile scaffolding (10) for elevating a worker (not shown) above a floor or ground surface (S) is disclosed. The scaffolding (10) broadly includes a pair of frames (12) and (14), a platform (16) supported by the frames (12,14), a pair of casters (18, 20) and (22,24) rollably supporting a respective one of the frames (12,14), and a brake assembly (26, 28,30, and 32) associated with a corresponding one of the casters (18,20,22,24), respectively. The inventive brake assemblies (26,28,30,32) enable the worker supported on the platform (16) to selectively activate and deactivate the respective brake assemblies (26,28,30,32) from the platform (16). This enables the worker supported on the platform (16) to deactivate the brake assemblies (26,28,30,32), reposition the scaffolding (10), and then reactivate the brake assemblies (26,28,30,32) without requiring the worker to dismount from the platform (16).
