    Abstract: There is disclosed an improved collapsible saw horse comprising a horizontal member over the center of which is affixed a tubular spacer. Left and right rotatable sleeves are disposed over the horizontal member on each side of the tubular spacer to obtain an assembled crossbar. Four legs, each connected to a collar complementary to the horizontal member, serve to support the horizontal member. The legs are further defined as a left outer leg, left inner leg, right inner leg, and right outer leg. The collars are of a shape similar to the rotatable sleeves and the tubular spacer such that when disposed over the horizontal member a smooth profile is obtained. Four angled braces are arranged as follows: (1) a first brace from the left outer leg to the left rotatable sleeve; (2) a second brace from the left inner leg to the tubular spacer; (3) a third brace from the right inner leg to the tubular spacer; and (4) a fourth brace from the right outer leg to the right rotatable sleeve.

The invention is more sturdy than prior devices because it incorporates "cross beam support channel(s)" that extend down most or all of its length, providing rigidity in all directions. "Type A" features a single three sided channel that cradles the bottom of the cross beam and interfaces with a plurality support leg device using tapered dovetail or "T" rail groove joints. "Type B" features separate channel members, one attached to each end of the cross beam member and the combination extending along all or most of the cross beam length. The channel members are integrally molded to end pieces that provide sockets into which lumber support legs are inserted.

    Abstract: The invention is a sawhorse that is quickly assembled and disassembled and is strong enough to support a heavy load. The sawhorse includes an elongated, horizontally disposed, rectilinear support member held above the ground by two spaced pairs of oppositely inclining leg members that overlap at a top end. Each leg member has a rectangular notch at the top end that is acutely angled to form a channel that receives the support member. A lower portion of the support member has two space rectangular channels for receiving the top ends of each pair of leg members. The leg members are pivotally coupled together with a pivot screw so that each leg member can be quickly rotated into a receiving position where the notches are aligned and able to receive the support member. Each leg member has the same dimensions and has a notch that is the same size and located at the same relative location making the sawhorse quick and inexpensive to fabricate.

    Abstract: A step sawhorse that is easily assembled and disassembled for ease in storage and transporting. The sawhorse is comprised of six wood parts (four identical legs, a top rail and step shelf). The parts are designed and constructed such as when assembled only two bolts with washers and nuts are needed to make secure a sturdy and rigid sawhorse, capable of supporting a heavy load. The legs are notched midway to support the step shelf, and notched at the top to support the top rail. The step shelf is a solid piece (providing rigidity in all four directions) with a rectangular opening at each corner to receive the legs. The top rail and legs are drilled to receive bolts with washers and nuts. When assembled and bolted together you have an exceptionally strong and lightweight sawhorse, with the added feature of a step shelf that will support a workman at the convenient height to work on an eight foot ceiling.

An arcuate edge on each end of the back between the pair of vertically-spaced notches requires that the leg panels be stressed in order to align the notches of the back with the notch and slit of the leg support panel. Without the use of any special securing hardware, the stressed assembly prevents the sawhorse from collapsing if it is lifted by the back or mechanically jolted.

The connected treads and rails are suspended from the deck or side of a boat by crank-like hangers pivotally and releasably secured to the side rails and having grooves enterable by one of the treads. Anchoring members on the hangers engage corresponding fittings permanently secured to the boat to suspend the ladder over the side of the vessel. One of the treads has braces which engage the sloping side of the boat to keep the ladder rails generally vertical.
