  • Patent number: 4564086
Abstract: A transport seat for conveying disabled travellers through a stairwell opening of a passenger carrying vehicle is disclosed. An elongate boom section is pivotally connected to a support base located exterior of the vehicle and is intended to extend over the stairwell of the vehicle. The boom section at its vehicle interior end is supported from the floor or a stair tread of the vehicle. A seat is carried on the boom section and is reciprocatable therealong. A traveller on the seat, during transport, faces outwardly of the vehicle towards the support base. The seat, however, is made rotatable so that a traveller on the seat, after being transported into the interior of the vehicle, can be rotated in a horizontal plane in order to face the vehicle floor and leave the seat and conversely, can first occupy the seat and then be rotated to face the support base before being transported from the interior of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4546852
Abstract: An adjustable service platform apparatus for a gantry crane has an elongated base frame generally comforming in size and shape to a conventional load carrying lifting spreader, and twin service platform units secured to opposite lateral ends of the base frame. Work platforms atop the service platform units can be raised and lowered and laterally extended and retracted independently from the hoist and trolley motions of the crane, with the crane's hoist and trolley motions being interlocked with the position of the work platforms. Using work platform controls operators standing on the work platforms can readily access and inspect the structural elements of the crane's A-frame supporting structure and the crane's boom structure from the top of the boom to the base of the crane. The work platforms can additionally have inboard and outboard extensions for readily accessing the interior of the boom structure and the outside surfaces of the A-frame structure.

  • Patent number: 4473160
Abstract: An apparatus for lowering articles from a building including a tower having a boom extending therefrom. A transfer carriage is slideably mounted on the boom and has a latching mechanism for engagement with an end plate on the boom. The carriage also has a mechanism for engaging a cage as the cage is raised by a cable to the carriage and disengaging the cage when the cage reaches the outer end of the boom. A cable mechanism in cooperation with powered drum members lowers and raises the cage while alternately raising and lowering a second cage which is on a boom with a transfer carriage identical to the first mentioned boom and transfer carriage. The rate of movement of the cable and therefore the rate of travel of the cages is controlled by a hydraulic motor connected to a closed loop conduit, the conduit having an orifice preset to regulate the flow of oil to and from the motor which in turn regulates the speed of the cable drums.

  • Patent number: 4454818
Abstract: A coupling trolley is provided for a rail or runway beam that is longitudinally translatable relative to a member located above and extending transversely of the rail or runway beam. The trolley has rollers to engage and support the rail or runway beam via upper flanging thereof, and has first and second supporting engagers for the member, specifically lower flanging thereof. The trolley is movable with the rail or runway beam and relative thereto. When the trolley is stopped by its first engager reaching said member as the rail or runway beam is advanced with the trolley, the second engager of the trolley is movable by the end of the rail or runway beam, from non-engagement towards and into securing engagement with the member where it is held by cooperation with the upper surface of the rail or runway beam.

  • Patent number: 4270628
Abstract: The present invention relates to an elevator device, preferably an elevator by a building facade and comprising a trolley which is displaceable along a track provided on a foundation, by way of example a roof, a lifting element as a lift cage, supported by the trolley means and a hoisting machinery provided for the vertical displacement of the lifting element. According to the invention the track is formed by a number of separate support elements arranged in rows preferably two rows. The support elements are along the track arranged with an interspace, which is maximum half the distance between the outer ends of the rails, corresponding to the number of rows and attached to the trolley. The rails attached to the trolley are arranged to be moved on the support elements along the track formed by the support elements. During the movement the distance between two adjacent support elements always is bridged by the rails.

  • Patent number: 4201275
Abstract: The invention provides a method for furbishing or renovating large span overhead structures, for example the roofs of railway stations, or bridges and the like, and utilizes apparatus which comprises a plurality of runway beams suspended in spaced parallel disposition from the main ribs or framework of an overhead structure said beams spanning a plurality of said ribs or framework and being longitudinally displaceable relative thereto, and a work platform or platforms suspended from said runway beams and being displaceable therealong. Thus arranged, the overhead structure can be treated for substantially its entire length by alternately advancing the work platforms along the runway beams and the runway beams relative to the structure.

  • Patent number: 4098371
Abstract: A mobile scaffold has a carriage for traversing longitudinally a first track and a second track. The carriage is suspended from the first track. Lateral support for one side of the carriage is provided by the second track, and this track is spaced vertically from the first track. A parallel arm type crane has one end mounted to the carriage on a side that is opposite from the side adjacent the second track. Attached to the end of the crane extended outwardly from the carriage is an operator's platform. The crane can swing to position the platform both in elevation and in a direction lateral of the carriage. The carriage has a vertical drive shaft with a horizontal wheel mounted thereon for contacting the second track. Bearings fit about the vertical drive shaft and the end of the crane is attached to the bearings so as to swing about the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4074789
Abstract: A rolling support for moving scaffolding alongside the side or end of a building under construction, the support including frame structure which rigidly connects two outriggers together, a leading outrigger and a trailing outrigger, each of such outriggers having a near-side traveling wheel to ride on an exposed structural roof member adjacent the side or end of a building, and a far side force roller which extends beneath a parallel exposed structural roof member inwardly from the side or end of the building, the outriggers being parallel to one another and riding on parallel exposed structural roof members. The near-side travel wheel bears down on its exposed roof member and exerts substantial downward pressure thereon while the far-side force roller bears upwardly against the underside of its exposed roof member. Remote controlled motor means are mounted on the frame so as to drive the near-side traveling wheel.
