  • Patent number: 11293313
Abstract: A pressurized lubrication system for turbomachinery includes a gravity rundown lubrication tank raised vertically above a turbomachinery train. The gravity rundown tank is typically designed to provide emergency fluid lubrication during shutdown if the main and standby lubrication pumps fail to operate. This invention describes a gravity rundown tank with additional novel function of providing higher pressure Accumulator action lubrication fluid to delay and prevent a shutdown trip of the turbomachinery. The gravity rundown tank with novel features can be a single tank with multiple functions, or a plurality of tanks utilizing gravity pressure to ensure emergency lubrication at rundown, and providing accumulator action delay pressure and flow when switching from main to standby lubrication pumps. This improvement in the state of the art leads to eliminating the need for conventional equipment such as Accumulators thus providing higher lubrication system reliability and minimizing cost and complexity.

Abstract: A fluid reservoir assembly having a pan defining a drain opening and a plug disposed therein is disclosed. The pan includes a pair of ramps disposed on an inner surface thereof adjacent the drain opening. The plug includes a pair of wings in engagement with the ramps. The ramps increase in height relative to the inner surface of the pan along a first direction of rotation about the central axis. The plug is drawn into sealing engagement with an outer surface of the pan by rotating the plug in the first direction of rotation about the central axis thereby moving the wings up the ramps. The pan includes at least one stop to prevent over-rotation of the plug. The ramps define a recess to secure the wings in a closed position.

Abstract: Lubrication substrates are disclosed that have been treated with or that carry a lubricant for maintaining a paper shredder. The lubrication substrate is fed through the shredding mechanism of a paper shredder. Rather than requiring disassembly of the paper shredder, maintenance and lubrication can be performed by passing the lubrication substrate through the shredding mechanism. The lubrication substrates can take any of a variety of forms, and can be substantially rigid and/or stiff. The lubrication substrates can also include scented lubricants and decomposing agents. Paper shredders are also disclosed for use with the lubrication substrates. The paper shredders can have various means for identifying when lubrication is needed and/or when the cutting mechanism of the paper shredder is lubricated by a lubrication sheet. Abstract: A system and method for filling hydrodynamic bearings with fluid are disclosed. The fluid filling system of the present invention includes a fluid storage tank to store fluid therein, a vacuum vessel to receive a hydrodynamic bearing therein, a fluid dispenser for connecting the fluid storage tank to the vacuum vessel and dripping the fluid into a micro-gap of the hydrodynamic bearing, a pump connected both to the fluid storage tank and to the vacuum vessel and separately exhausting air from both the fluid storage tank and the vacuum vessel to the outside, and a nitrogen storage tank for separately controlling pressure in both the fluid storage tank and the vacuum vessel, wherein the fluid storage tank is pressurized using nitrogen such that the pressure in the fluid storage tank becomes higher than the pressure in the vacuum vessel, thus causing the fluid to move to the vacuum vessel and to be dripped into the hydrodynamic bearing received in the vacuum vessel.

Abstract: A lubricating pack specifically designed for paper shredders, including a piece of oiled paper saturated with lubricant placed between two jackets that are each provided at an inner layer thereof with an oil-seepage-proof film. The two jackets are then formed with a first seal sealed around their peripheries to form a lubricating pack having a laminating construction. The lubricating pack is fed into the paper shredder through a paper inlet to the paper shredder under auto mode to be shredded by the paper shredder. Accordingly, the cutting blades of the paper shredder would be able to contact the lubricant contained in the oiled paper during the process of shredding the lubricating pack, so as to provide lubrication between cutting blades of the paper shredder thereby extending the lifespan of the paper shredder.
