Crank-type Machines Patents (Class 184/6.5)
  • Patent number: 8397690
Abstract: A lubrication system includes a rotary pump, an eductor, and a solenoid valve and is configured to provide pressurized oil to an engine. The rotary pump is configured to generate oil flow. A supplemental supply line selectively provides pressurized oil into the eductor. The solenoid valve is movable between a first position and a second position. The solenoid valve supplies a fluid signal that allows pressurized oil to flow from the supplemental supply line and into the eductor when the solenoid valve is in the first position to increase the volume of oil flowing from a sump of the engine into the rotary pump. When the solenoid valve does not supply a fluid signal, pressurized oil is prevented from entering the eductor and the volume of oil flowing from the sump and through the eductor to the rotary pump is not increased.

  • Patent number: 8316815
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an oil storage structure defining an oil storage chamber provided for storing oil therein. The engine is configured such that a crankcase cover, covering a clutch mechanism, is joined to a crankcase for forming an oil storage chamber. The oil storage structure is applied to an engine having a vertically split crankcase, and is configured to prevent the clutch mechanism from dipping into stored oil so that clutch disengagement performance is not affected, and reliability of the liquid-tight sealing performance is extended. The crankcase cover is formed with a partition wall extending along the outer circumference of the clutch mechanism. The partition wall splits a space between the crankcase and the crankcase cover into two chambers. Of these chambers, a chamber separate from a clutch mechanism is used as the oil storage chamber, which is formed only by a lower crankcase and the crankcase cover.

The piston comprises an aperture forming a piston bearing surface and a lubrication port in communication with the aperture. The pin comprises a pin bearing surface and the pin is received within the aperture to form an interface between the pin bearing surface and the piston bearing surface. In another embodiment, a method of lubricating within a compressor comprises rotating a crankshaft within a crankcase, introducing lubricant into the crankcase; and contacting the lubricant with a portion of a pin disposed within a piston via a lubrication port in the piston. In yet another embodiment, a piston for a compressor comprises an aperture forming a piston bearing surface and a lubrication port in communication with the aperture.

Abstract: A lubricant containing a minor amount of a polyalkene-substituted succinimide of Mn 1800 to 2800, as a first base, is circulated through a lubricating system so that the succinimide forms salts with at least a portion of combustion acids therein. The lubricant is then contacted with an immobilised second base, stronger than the first base, that displaces at least a portion of the succinimide from the salts to form retained second base: combustion acid salts and release the succinimide into the lubricant.

Abstract: A reciprocating compressor includes a compressing unit placed over a motor unit. A crankshaft, which converts rotating action of the motor unit into reciprocating action of a piston of the compressing unit, has (a) a centrifugal pump provided at a lower section of the crankshaft, and (b) a pair of spiral pumps that communicate with the centrifugal pump and have leading grooves running in opposite directions to each other. The crankshaft also includes a pair of eccentric paths at its upper section. The eccentric paths open into an enclosed container and communicate with the spiral pumps respectively. This structure allows production of greater force for transferring lubricant oil regardless of the rotating direction of the crankshaft.
