Abstract: A clamper mechanism for a motion guide device includes a clamper block having tapered faces, clamper rolling elements arranged between the tapered faces and both left and right side faces of a track member, and a clamper rolling element holder attached to the clamper block with an interposition of an elastic member. When an elastic force exerted by the elastic member acts in a direction in which the clamper block and the clamper rolling element holder are separated from each other, the clamper rolling elements bite the tapered faces to bring the clamper block into a state restrained to the track member. When an external force against the elastic force exerted by the elastic member acts, the clamper rolling elements are brought into a free state within the tapered faces to bring the clamper block into a state not restrained to the track member to exert a stable clamping force.

Abstract: A lockdown apparatus for releasably locking a coaxially mounted series of tool heads in a slitter-scorer machine includes an elongate locking member movable into simultaneous engagement with locking surfaces on each of the tool heads and a flexible membrane interposed directly between the locking member and the locking surfaces which membrane is flexed into and out of direct locking engagement with the locking surfaces by movement of the locking member. The flexible membrane may be used with either a rotary or reciprocal locking member and, in either case, the flexible membrane may be secured against movement with respect to the tool heads when they are locked such that unavoidable longitudinal movement of the locking member will not disrupt the critically accurate locked positions of the tool heads. The rotary lockdown apparatus utilizes an elongate cam of the type known in the prior art and, in the reciprocal lockdown apparatus, the locking bar comprises the armature of a solenoid.

  • Patent number: 5199344
Abstract: A lock cylinder for a backhoe slide frame which provides for a positive lock of the slide frame in selected positions is described. The slide frame is supported on two generally horizontal rails that are vertically spaced, and the lock cylinders mount between the vertically spaced rails. The lock cylinders each have a piston that acts to hold the slide frame seated against the upper one of the rails. The piston also provides a wedging action on at least one rail to hold the slide frame from fore and aft movement relative to the rail.

  • Patent number: 4538706
Abstract: A safety device for stopping an elevator car or counterweight has a brake shoe on one side of a guide rail, and, on the other side, two leaf springs and a roller. The springs define a tapered area, and the roller is pulled by a governor to engage the rail, which trips the roller, causing it to be forced into the tapered area and forcing the brake shoe against the rail. The roller engages a soft metal stop when the device is operated and this stop is worn away during each operation, which permits the roller to move higher on each operation; this compensates for any wear on the brake shoe. The governor is attached to the car or counterweight.

  • Patent number: 4512444
Abstract: A plate is attached to a rail which moves vertically in a housing. The housing includes a brake which rubs on one side of the rail; on the other side, there is a roller. A leaf spring is positioned between the housing and the roller. When the rail moves vertically in one direction, the roller is pushed progressively harder against the rail. This squeezes the rail against the brake, creating a braking force on the rail that increases, to maximum, in relation to distance the rail moves. This arrangement may be used as a buffer for an elevator cab or counterweight in an elevator.

  • Patent number: 4480727
Abstract: An electromagnetic track brake for a railway vehicle comprises an elongate brake energizing coil for energizing a plurality of U-shaped braking shoes mounted in a row on a rigid frame. To improve transmission of braking reaction forces from the shoes to the vehicle each shoe is moved downwards individually relative to the frame against spring bias. A tie rod extends along a lower branch of the coil engaging each of the braking shoes for the transmission of braking forces from the shoes to the tie rod. A cylindrical rod rigidly coupled to the frame is operably connected to the end of the tie rod to take up the braking reaction forces transmitted to the tie rod.

  • Patent number: 4359247
Abstract: A brake for rail vehicles comprises a working cylinder defining an accumulator chamber and a counter pressure chamber. A differential piston is movably mounted in the working cylinder and has a first piston surface communicating with the accumulator chamber and a second piston surface communicating with the counter pressure chamber. A restraining device in the form of an additional pressurized chamber communicates with another surface of the differential piston to hold the differential piston motionless. When brakes which are connected to and actuated by the differential piston, are to be activated to slow movement of the vehicle, the restraining device is partially or fully released which permits movement of the differential piston.

  • Patent number: 4335658
Abstract: A recreational mountain slide is basically a double-rail track down which a wheeled cart rolls. The rails are channels of substantially rectangular cross-section laid such that each provides a top, a bottom, and an inside vertical face, each such face being substantially flat, continuous, and unobstructed throughout the length of the track. The rails are mounted on supports which are adjustable and readily removable, being attached to the rails solely along their outer vertical faces. The front wheels of the cart are steerable by the rider. Each wheel is of constant diameter throughout its width and is wider than the rail on which it runs. The wheels are restrained from sliding laterally or jumping vertically off the track by members mounted on the cart in position to bear on the inside vertical face or the bottom face, respectively, of the adjacent rail. The cart also has brakes which can bear upwardly on the bottom face of the rail.

  • Patent number: 4037670
Abstract: An improved blade clamping mechanism for a motor grader blade which has blade support rails carried in pivoted blade support means for lateral sliding movement, and in which confining surfaces in the blade support means restrict both vertical and fore-and-aft movement of the rails in the support means. A clamp lever is pivoted on the circle of the motor grader and has a clamp arm which can be turned in a vertical plane against the bottom of the lower support rail with a high mechanical advantage to force the rail against an overlying confining surface; and a single action hydraulic cylinder and piston unit which turns the lever simultaneously presses a clamp shoe against the rear of the upper support rail. The clamps are normally locked by hydraulic pressure on the piston, and released by moving a manually controlled valve to a drain position so that a return spring acting on the clamp shoe can move the shoe and the lever to a release position.
