  • Patent number: 5553986
Abstract: An indirect locking and lock release mechanism is provided that permits remote actuation of the lock release function and automatic reset of the locking function in a chamber. Linear actuation of a push rod from a transfer platform causes linear actuation of a linearly aligned push rod on the ramp which in turn causes pivotal movement of a blocking member from a locked to an unlocked position in the chamber. A detent device on the transfer platform sealed in an airtight workstation permits remote actuation of the locking components in the chamber from a worksuit provided in the workstation. The locking function is automatically reset without any intervention by the user of the workstation.

  • Patent number: 5431521
Abstract: An indirect locking and lock release mechanism is provided that permits remote actuation of the lock release function and automatic reset of the locking function in a chamber. Components on a transfer carrier permit remote actuation of locking components in a chamber through intermediate components on a ramp between the chamber and the transfer carrier. Members are provided to secure the transfer carrier to the ramp. Linear actuation of a push rod at the remote end of the transfer carrier causes linear actuation of a linearly aligned push rod on the ramp which in turn causes pivotal movement of a blocking member from a locked to an unlocked position in the chamber. Fail safe mechanisms are provided to prevent movement of the blocking member to the unlocked position when the transfer carrier is not secured to the ramp.

  • Patent number: 5211266
Abstract: An improved rail skate intended for mounting on the top of a rail, including an upwardly inclined ramp portion and an entry or toe portion whereby a wheel of an approaching railcar will roll up on top of the entry or toe portion and engage the ramp thereby stopping movement of the wheel relative to the rail skate and thereafter causing the rail skate to slide along the top of the rail until the railcar is ultimately stopped, the rail skate having a shoe element with a substantially V-shaped cross-section including a raised central portion and depending sides.

  • Patent number: 4977795
Abstract: A ratchet mechanism comprising a rotatable member incorporating a toothed periphery, the rotatable member being suitably mounted to allow free rotation thereof, a pawl incorporating apparatus for engaging the toothed periphery, the pawl being suitably mounted to permit movement thereof from a position in which the pawl allows said rotatable member to rotate freely in either direction of rotation to a position in which the pawl prevents said rotatable member from rotating in one direction, and selectively operable apparatus to move the pawl between said positions, said selectively operable apparatus incorporating an over-dead-center spring arrangement to bias the pawl into the selected position.

  • Patent number: 4610207
Abstract: A positioning device for the trolleys of an electric overhead trolley conveyor is described. This positioning device comprises a carrier which is shiftable in the direction of the movement of the trolley. The carrier is connected with a damping device. Further it comprises an engaging member cooperating with the trolley, whereby the engaging member is rendered inoperative toward the end of the carrier movement. This insures on the one side, that the trolley reaches the defined end position by engaging a stopping member. On the other side it is prevented, that the trolley strikes against the stopping member 40 with a high force of inertia. For enabling a recommenced movement the stopping member 40 may be rendered inoperative. The carrier is preferably utilized for this purpose.

  • Patent number: 4294174
Abstract: A rail system of the type in which a vehicle runs along a track to carry articles such as goods from one location in an industrial plant or other installation, to another location. At some point along the path an arm is provided for engagement with the vehicle and is swung with an angular velocity determined by the vehicle speed. A centrifugal clutch, effective when the angular velocity exceeds a predetermined level equivalent, say, to the maximum safe speed for the vehicle, can operate a cam to control a spring-loaded stop for the vehicle or car so that the stop can be rendered effective to bring the vehicle to standstill when the sensor detects the excessive speed.

  • Patent number: 4168664
Abstract: A braking device for buffer stop assemblies comprises a buffer rail which is displaceably guided on a buffer stop construction, there being provided at least one friction element and bolts for clamping the friction element in braking frictional engagement with the buffer rail. The buffer rail is formed as a circular cross section tube having a smooth outer surface and the friction element by brake blocks engaging opposite sides of the tube and pressed against the tube by the bolts.
