Axially Moving Patents (Class 188/82.74)
  • Patent number: 7721860
Abstract: There is provided a power coupling device comprising first and second coupling members, at least one of which is capable of rotating about a common axis and relative to each other. The first coupling member has a pocket, and the second coupling member has notches. The power coupling member also comprises first and second struts arranged at least partly in the pocket. Each of the first and second struts is urged to emerge from the pocket and capable of engaging with one of the notches. The first strut is capable of transmitting torque between the first and second coupling members only in a first direction, and the second strut is capable of transmitting torque between the first and second coupling members only in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 7699746
Abstract: A one way clutch and synchronizer assembly includes a stationary member having a plurality of clutch struts and camming surfaces, a second circular selector member, an third rotating controlled member and a fourth stationary member. The selector member includes apertures or windows through which the clutch struts may pass to engage the rotating member and camming surfaces which provide a selective frictional coupling between the stationary members and the rotating member. A bi-directional hydraulic or electric actuator selectively, bi-directionally rotates the selector member.

  • Patent number: 6470519
Abstract: A brake for a medical table (20) includes a speed detector (40) for determining when the table speed is greater than a threshold value. If the table is moving at greater than the threshold value, the brake is prevented from engaging to prevent the patient from being jolted. When the brake is engaged, teeth (91-95) of a brake tooth member (90) mesh with a groove set assembly (70). The teeth have central planes (A). Each of the teeth has sidewalls that define planes (P1 and P2) which make acute angles with respect to the respective central planes. A position detector (110) warns an operator when the brake is not engaged. A linear bearing assembly (125) guides the brake into the engaged position. A pawl assembly (100) hold the brake in the engaged position until released.

  • Patent number: 6394255
Abstract: A rotary motion limiting arrangement includes a stationary component, a rotating component rotatable in opposite directions relative thereto, a pair of stops movably mounted on the stationary component for establishing a first set of opposite limits to rotational movement of the rotating component, and a link fastened to the stops such that, as one stop is moved between extended and retracted positions across and outside of a path of revolution of a lug on the rotating component the other stop is moved oppositely between retracted and extended positions. A braking mechanism is positioned, upon electrical energization, to halt rotation of the rotating component. Switches situated adjacent to the link and rotating component are electrically connected to the braking mechanism for establishing a second set of opposite limits to rotational movement of the rotating component within the limits of the first set.
