  • Patent number: 5908680
Abstract: A textile pull roll cover is disclosed which has an exterior side with desired frictional characteristics for engagement with an advancing textile web. On its opposite side, the pull roll cover is affixed to a cylindrical outer surface of a textile pull roll by a repositionable pressure sensitive adhesive disposed therebetween. A method for making a textile pull roll is disclosed, as well as a method for changing a pull roll cover using repositionable pressure sensitive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5019110
Abstract: Whereas in known needle rings the needles are of circular cross-section, the cross-section of the needles (1) the present needle ring (2) is equipped with is either oval or rectangular with flattened ends, or intermediate between these two shapes. The shorter dimension (1a) of the needle cross-section is to be arranged parallel to the axis of the ring. The needles (1) may be positioned perpendicularly in the ring or form an angle .alpha. up to 30.degree. with the radius (2b), while the angle .beta. at the tip should lie between 15.degree. and 45.degree.. The needles sit in round holes (3) the diameter of which is less than the width (1b) of the needles which in turn is approximately 4 to 6 times the thickness of the needles. Hence, the needle does not fully occupy the volume of the hole. Two channels (3b) remain open, which may be used for controlling the air flow effecting the fiber transport.

  • Patent number: 4347647
Abstract: An apparatus for drafting and parallelizing strands of fiber comprising three side-by-side rolls nested in three side-by-side troughs which conform to and are adjacent the bottoms of the three rolls. The rolls are rotated in the same direction at sequentially greater speeds. The first two rolls include fiber-combing teeth, and the third roll is composed of a smooth, rubber-like surface. The fibers pass sequentially around the bottoms of the three rolls through a very narrow gap between the rolls and troughs to emerge in a parallelized, drafted condition. The unit may be incorporated into a no-twist yarn system as the sole mechanism for drafting and parallelizing the fiber, to form no-twist yarn in a continuous manner; or be used in place of conventional drafting system.

  • Patent number: 4030165
Abstract: A series of roller pairs in the drafting zone of sliver drafting apparatus have toothed or needlelike projections. The projections are spaced circumferentially and axially of the rollers so that projections of cooperating rollers either within a pair or between rollers of adjacent pairs are periodically interdigitated, as seen axially of the rollers, in spaced relationship as the rollers rotate at constant angular velocity. The rollers carry toothed wheels engageable for positive drive without backlash by a toothed belt. The upper rollers of the pairs are driven by a common endless loop belt and the lower rollers by a second belt. Each belt passes over a spring-loaded jockey roller which tensions the belt and which can be moved against the spring force in response to overloading tension on the belt caused by retardation of roller rotation in response to excessive fibres between a roller pair. Such movement of the jockey roller actuates a limit switch to shut off the belt drive motor.
