  • Patent number: 5950413
Abstract: A spinning apparatus is disclosed according to the invention having a drafting zone comprising at least four roll pairs for drawing a sliver comprising one or more types of staple fibers. The rolls pairs include a back roll pair, intermediate roll pairs and a front roll pair and the distance between the nip of the back roll pair and the nip of the adjacent intermediate roll pair, and the distances between the nips of adjacent intermediate roll pairs is no more than the effective fiber length of the longest staple fiber type in the sliver. The drafted sliver may be spun into yarns at high speeds, such as the speeds used in air jet spinning apparatus to provide yarns having increased strength and reduced defects. The present invention also includes a method of forming high quality and high uniformity yarns by advancing a sliver through a drafting apparatus and thereafter spinning the sliver into yarn.

  • Patent number: 4644609
Abstract: In order to make possible automatic restart of a spinning machine drafting frame after strand breakage in an easy way, a movable blocking member is insertable between the drive roller of the lower feed belt and the lower feed belt in the direction of the line of contact of the lower feed belt and the drive roller, this blocking member on engagement raising the lower belt from its drive roller by operation of a connecting rod attached pivotally to the detent member. Additional roller pairs present upstream of the feed belts are preferably provided with means for simultaneously lifting the various upper rollers from the lower rollers with or without holding the yarn or thread fixed on engagement of the detent member.

  • Patent number: 4513481
Abstract: A bottom tenser utilized for a drafting means of a spinning frame, especially for fasciated yarn spinning, in which a fiber bundle is attenuated at a high speed exceeding 100 m/min. The bottom tenser as well as a bottom roller corresponding to the tenser is provided with a free end through which an apron is easily removable from and mountable on the tenser and the roller. The tenser may be constituted by a body and at least a guide wall movable relative to the body. The guide wall prevents lateral movement of the apron in its operative position and, in turn, is displaced or removed from the body in its non-operative position so as not to obstruct an apron exchanging operation.

  • Patent number: 4387487
Abstract: A high draft apparatus in a spinning machine for forming a spun yarn from a roving or sliver. The draft apparatus comprises back rollers, apron-provided middle rollers and front rollers and a gripping and a pressing means for a sliver disposed on the front end portion of the apron so that the arrangement of fibers in the drafted sliver is regulated and a high draft ratio can be attained.

  • Patent number: 4280252
Abstract: The double-apron drawing mechanism includes a feed couple of rollers and a delivery couple of rollers, with the fibrous material being treated passing between the two endless aprons or belts of the feed couple, synchronously rotated about the driven and pressure rollers. One endless apron engages a stationary guide extending longitudinally of the travel of the fibrous material, while the other endless apron engages a movable guide arranged adjacent to the area of exit of the fibrous material from the feed couple toward the delivery couple. The movable guide is mounted for infinite angular adjustment in vertical planes extending both transversely and longitudinally of the travel of the fibrous material, to provide for infinite adjustment of the gap between the endless aprons in the area of exit of the treated fibrous material from the feed couple.
