  • Patent number: 10531612
Abstract: Cotton cleaner assembly with saw drum and releasable grid bar mechanism that includes bars and a release mechanism that moves the bars between operational and released positions is disclosed. In operational position, the release mechanism locks the bars in a fixed position relative to the saw drum to knock debris from cotton that rotates with the saw drum. In released position, the release mechanism moves the bars away from the saw drum to enable blockages that interfere with saw drum rotation to be cleared. The grid bar mechanism can include side members, where the bars extend between the side members, and the release mechanism moves the side members. The release mechanism can manually or hydraulically pivot the side members about pivot points against and away from stops. The pivot points and stops can be adjustable to adjust distance between the bars and saw drum in the operational position.

  • Patent number: 10421076
Abstract: A drum cutting machine has a rotary drum and has a plurality of blades arranged along the contour of the rotary drum. The lateral surface of the rotary drum is provided with a multiplicity of holes. A supporting part matches the contour of the rotary drum and has for each of the blades a bearing point that defines the position of the cutting edge. A blade box for such a machine makes it easier to move the blades into the correct position, thereby reducing the complexity in terms of maintenance.

  • Patent number: 5442835
Abstract: A card screen and a lickerin screen are provided for a forty inch carding machine having the usual side ribs and end blanks. The grid bars in both the card screen and the lickerin screen are of triangular configuration in cross-section and are structured to provide increased air flow for the removal of trash. One side of each grid bar extends downwardly in use at an angle of about 50.degree. to the radii of the main cylinder, or lickerin roll, another side extends radially from the main cylinder, and the third side extends between the first two sides in closely spaced substantially parallel relation to the main screen. There is no center rib and the grid bars extend the entire distance between the side ribs.

  • Patent number: 5237727
Abstract: A method for enabling the cleaning of fibers in a fiber cleaning machine in which a cleaning stream moves tufts around a rotating cleaning cylinder, the tufts being cleaned and opened. The cleaning action can be adapted to fibers of varying origin and to an increasing degree of opening in the course of cleaning. The cleaning stream is, to a large extent, controlled and controllable by decoupling it from the dynamic behavior of the transport streams which transport material to and away from the cleaning process. Compensation for variations in the cleaning stream, and in the material supplied for cleaning, are achieved by control of the cleaning intensity, in order that the tufts emerging from the cleaning process are constant and optimally cleaned and opened. The invention concerns also suitable fiber cleaning apparatus for the realization of the described method. The apparatus includes a cleaning cylinder positioned in a casing and a plurality of cleaning elements extending from the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5084942
Abstract: An apparatus and method for use in a cleaning process of textile fibers, and for use in conjunction with an opening roller. The apparatus includes a plurality of separating blades and guide elements which are spaced from the opening roller during the cleaning process. An assembly is provided for adjustably positioning a plurality of the separating blades and the guide elements during the cleaning process. The adjustment of the spacing of the separating blades and the guide elements from the opening roller can be accomplished remotely, either manually or by a motorized drive. A lever unit enables appropriate connection for effecting the various adjustments of the separating blades and the guide elements. The guide elements and the separating blades can be controlled and adjusted to suit the fibers to be processed.

  • Patent number: 4993118
Abstract: A machine for cleaning textile fibres including a casing, a horizontal opening roller rotatably mounted in the casing, the roller being fitted with beater elements and at least one group of grate bars arranged below the underside and approximately parallel to the opening roller. Textile fibres in the form of flocks are fed to the opening roller in a current of delivery air through an inlet located above and at one end of the opening roller. An outlet for removing the delivery air is arranged above and at the other end of the opening roller. A clearance between the grate bars and the opening roller is adjustable. Therewith, the machine can be optimally suited to the type of textile fibre material to be cleaned. The grate bars can also be further adjustable on a axis parallel to their own longitudinal axis, so that the setting angle of the grate bars, with reference to the current of delivery air, can also be adapted to the type of the textile fibre material.

  • Patent number: 4958404
Abstract: A card for producing fibrous webs or random webs of textile fibers comprises a plurality of cylinders in series with metallic wire. The cylinders rotate in a predetermined mutual sense to which worker rolls are coordinated. The cylinders and workers are covered by trough-shaped plates. The trough-shaped cover of the cylinders or workers (7, 8, 9) is formed of a plurality of trough sections (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d, 20e) which are arranged in close succession. The trough sections are adapted to be adjustable and to be opened respectively. By this means, a control of the optimum air amount at the rollers may be achieved uniformly over the working width.

  • Patent number: 4625368
Abstract: An apparatus for opening and cleaning fiber material has a casing, a beater cylinder supported in the casing in a horizontal orientation; a grid situated underneath the cylinder; a fiber inlet opening and fiber outlet opening oriented for guiding a fiber carrying air stream parallel to the cylinder axis into, through and out of the apparatus; and a deflector plate situated within the casing above the cylinder. The casing defines above the cylinder a free space which has a height dimension being approximately at least twice the diameter of the cylinder. There is further provided an air outlet opening in an upper part of the casing above the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4601084
Abstract: A means for adjusting the clearance between the grid plate assembly and the drum of an extractor of the type which separates trash from cotton lint as it passes through this clearance. The present means is easily and quickly installed on commercially-available extractors or new extractors and is fully operable from outside the housing of the extractor. The adjusting means comprises a pair of supports or brackets which are positioned on the outside of a side wall of the extractor housing. One of the brackets is fixed to the wall while the other bracket is connected to the grid plate assembly by a bolt that passes through an elongated slot in the wall. The two brackets are connected together by an adjustable member (e.g. all-thread bolt) having jam nuts thereon which, in turn, can be moved along the adjustable member to thereby allow the other bracket and, hence, the grid plate assembly to move either toward or away from the drum to change the clearance therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4547935
Abstract: A textile fiber processing machine includes a rotary cylinder having circumferential areas for engaging and circumferentially entraining fiber material introduced into the machine; and a waste grid situated adjacent to and radially spaced from, a circumferential portion of the cylinder. The waste grid allows waste from the fiber material to pass through. The waste grid has a plurality of grid bars supported parallel to one another. Adjoining grid bars define grid slots through which waste may pass. Each grid bar has a bar face oriented towards the cylinder and a free end portion. The bar faces are inclined towards the cylinder for abutting fiber material thrown towards the waste grid by the cylinder and for allowing waste material, after impingement thereon, to slide on the bar face towards and off the free end portion.

  • Patent number: 4505005
Abstract: A grating composed of individual bars is provided for an opening roller serving for cleaning of fibers and provided with clothing. Each bar carries a guide element extending over its length and comprises a guide sheet, the spacing of which from the clothing is settable. For the purpose of adjustment, the guide element comprises a flat band portion which rests on a side surface of the bar, is shiftable substantially parallel to such side surface and is releasably secured to the bar. In known devices, setting of the spacing x of the guide sheet from the clothing is laborious because the accessibility to the position to be measured is difficult. In accordance with the invention this is avoided in that each guide element is additionally provided on the longitudinal side of the flat band portion directed away from the guide sheet with a band portion which is inclined with respect to the flat band portion, extends in the longitudinal direction of its bar and covers the back thereof.
