  • Patent number: 5642611
Abstract: In the case of a mounting for an opening roller comprising a plurality of teeth, all the tooth faces and the tooth backs are inclined in rotational direction. At their tips, the tooth faces form an angle relative to an opening roller radial plane of between 10.degree. and 30.degree. . The tooth backs are more inclined to the radial plane at the tooth tips than at the tooth bases. The tooth backs are inclined at the tooth tips in such a way that an extension of the tangent to the tooth back at the tooth tip intersects the tooth face of the following tooth at an intersecting point which is between one-fifth and four-fifths of the tooth height of the following tooth. At least one-half of a tooth height from the tooth tip to the tooth base has a roller circumferential direction width which is at least as large as the distance between the back of the respective tooth and the face of a next adjacent following tooth.

Abstract: In the recess of a housing (4) of an open-end spinning device containing a driven opener roller (40), an insertion piece (32) is provided which contains the first channel part (30) of a fiber feeding channel. The insertion piece (32) is installed in housing (4) by an elastic retaining element in such a manner as to be replaceable. The retaining element may be part of a catch and be formed for this purpose by a ring or pot-like insert (43) which lines the interior of the housing (4) containing the opener roller (40) and which has technologically necessary openings (430, 432, 431) in its circumferential wall. The edges of the lateral walls of the first channel part (30) towards the ring or pot-shaped insert are adapted to the curvature of the insert (43). These lateral walls extend, relative to a perpendicular dropped from the center of the insert (43) on the longitudinal axis of the insertion piece (32), up to the side of the perpendicular (323) away from the spinning element (10).

  • Patent number: 5396688
Abstract: Denim fabric is made from novelty cotton yarn having irregularly spaced irregularities (e.g. slubs) about one-half inch to two inches in length. The cotton novelty yarn is made by separating cotton sliver into cotton fibers, and acting on the cotton fibers with a negative wire combing roll, and then twisting the cotton fibers into the cotton novelty yarn. The negative wire combing roll has a tooth angle of about -0.01.degree. to -15.degree.. The novelty cotton yarn is made into a warp of about 54-100 (e.g. 54-78) ends per inch, and is ring dyed so that the core of the yarn remains white. The warp is woven with a filling yarn to produce a denim fabric with a weight of about 5 oz.-17 oz. per sq. yd. having the weave and yarn size selected so that a tight construction is provided which highlights the slubs. The fabric is subjected to surface abrasion to remove the surface of dye on the slubs to show a lighter slub than body of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 5018247
Abstract: A machine for cleaning textile fibres including a casing, a horizontal opening roller rotatably mounded in the casing, the roller body having a roller body and beater rods protruding from the peripheral area of the roller body and bar grates arranged below the underside of the opening roller. Textile fibres in the form of flocks are conveyed in a delivery air stream through an inlet which is arranged at a first end of the opening roller. An outlet for egress of the delivery air stream is arranged at the other end of the opening roller. In one arrangement, the radial length of the beater rods decreases from the inlet to the outlet and the diameter of the roller body increases from the inlet to the outlet. Abstract: The invention relates to opening rollers for open-end spinning apparatus, particularly roller which comprise a body on which is wound a helical coil of metallic wire type card-clothing.The roller body comprises two body parts secured together in end-to-end relationship, and the metallic wire type card-clothing is formed into a pre-set helical coil which is located on an external cylindrical surface of the body, the end flanks of the coil engaging respectively with two abutments one on each of the two parts of the roller body, so that the coil is constrained axially between the abutments in a manner such that adjacent convolutions of the coil are held in abutting relationship. It is preferred to use interlocking card-clothing wire. It is also preferred to make the roller body parts in plastics material, and to secure them together by an adhesive, and in this manner a disposable roller is produced. The specification describes methods of refurbishing existing opening rollers, in accordance with the invention.

Abstract: The invention relates to opening rollers for open-end spinning apparatus, particularly of the type in which there is a roller body on which is wound a helical coil of metallic wire type card-clothing.The card-clothing coil is located between a pair of abutments, each of which has an annular inner end face in the shape of a helix with an acclivity or step between its maximum and minimum axial displacements, this annular face being complementary in shape to the adjacent end of the card-clothing coil, so that when the ends of the coil are engaged with their respective abutments, there are no recesses between the roller body and the ends of the coil in which lint can lodge. The abutments can be formed by separate distance pieces, or by forming integrally with the roller body, or by moulding after the card-clothing coil has been applied to the roller body.It is preferred to use interlocking type card-clothing wire.

  • Patent number: 4296527
Abstract: The invention relates to opening rollers for open-end spinning wherein the opening roller has a support part for attachment to the driving spindle and an adapter having the fiber engaging teeth of the roller. According to one aspect of the invention, the support part and adapter have a releasable connection which both establishes driving attachment of the adapter to the support part and secures the adapter on the support part without the intervention of a third element. The invention also includes an arrangement in which a screw screwed axially into the support part has a head received in a recess formed partly in the support part and partly in the adapter whereby the screw both establishes a driving connection between the two parts and secures the adapter to the support part.

  • Patent number: 4249286
Abstract: A fiber sliver opening roll of an open-end spinning device is equipped with needles, wherein the needle shaft of each needle is mounted in a bore. The surface of the opening roll is provided with outer, wide recesses which clear or leave free the needles at all sides. Below the bases of the recesses there are located the aforementioned bores which are smaller than the recesses. Between each needle and the side wall of the related recess there is left free a clearance or space. The depth of each recess is greater than the distance at the recess base between the outer surface of the needle and the inner wall of the recess, and which depth amounts to from 1 to 10 times the aforementioned distance. Owing to the provision of each such recess the related needle extends free on all sides between the roll surface and the bore in such a manner that there are prevented fiber jamming and fiber accumulations on the needles.
