  • Patent number: 5641046
Abstract: A bi-directional clutch particularly suited for hand-powered applications where motion is imparted to a pulley. The device includes a pair of wedge-shaped circular plates each of which is urged to a disengaged or idle position under the force of gravity when no motion is being transmitted. Imparted rotational movement in either direction brings an angled surface of a driving plate into contact with a corresponding angled surface of a driven plate which motion pushes an opposite surface of the driven plate into contact with a side surface of the pulley for transmitting corrresponding rotation.

  • Patent number: 4986394
Abstract: A brake actuator has a body containing a pair of brake-applying members which may be actuated hydraulically to separate the friction elements of a brake into engagement with a rotatable braking surface. The members are interconnected by a mechanism in the form of a shaft of which respective end portions are provided with reversible threaded portions of opposite hand which engage corresponding threads within the members, the shaft being constrained against axial movement between bearings. Any excess movement of one of the members relative to the other is transmitted to that other member such as to cause an opposite and proportional force on the other member to substantially equalize the wear rates on the friction elements.

  • Patent number: 4069904
Abstract: A hydraulic release mechanism for automotive clutches and the like comprising a housing and a bearing assembly. The assembly comprises a non-rotating race ring, a rotatable race ring adapted to be connected to an operating element for said clutch and a plurality of rolling elements arranged therebetween. The bearing assembly is mounted with respect to the housing for axially slidable movement and radially floating movement. The housing under pressure, the force of which is transmitted through the end of the non-rotating race ring, the rolling elements, and the rotating race ring to the clutch operating element. Preferably, the means for mounting the bearing assembly with respect to said housing comprises a flexible bellows.
