Radially Spaced Coaxial Clutch-assemblages Patents (Class 192/48.619)
  • Patent number: 7810622
Abstract: A transmission includes first and second clutch members rotatable about the same axis. An axial groove is formed in one of the members to distribute lubricating fluid to the other member. Preferably, clutch plates with radial grooves extend between the clutch members. Fluid flows from the axial groove through the radial groove and across faces of the clutch plates to separate the plates during disengagement in order to minimize spin losses.

  • Patent number: 7743898
Abstract: The invention relates to a clutch arrangement in radially nested design. Known in the prior art is a clutch arrangement which comprises a radial outer multiple disk clutch having outer disks and inner disks and a radial inner multiple disk clutch having outer disks and inner disks, where the radial outer multiple disk clutch and the radial inner multiple disk clutch have a common disk support, which supports the outer disks of the radial inner multiple disk clutch and the inner disks of the radial outer multiple disk clutch. According to the invention, a common endplate is provided for the radial inner multiple disk clutch and the radial outer multiple disk clutch.

  • Patent number: 7731624
Abstract: An automatic transmission that includes two clutches that are disposed at positions that overlap in an axial direction and are different in a radial direction. The two clutches each include: a clutch drum, a piston that structures a working oil chamber with a portion of the clutch drum used as a cylinder, a plurality of friction plates that engage the clutch drum, and a cancel oil chamber that is disposed on a back surface side of the piston and that cancels a centrifugal hydraulic pressure that acts on the working oil chamber. An inner spline is formed on the clutch drum of one clutch, among the two clutches, that is positioned on an outer diameter side. An outer spline is formed on the clutch drum of the other clutch, among the two clutches, that is positioned on an inner diameter side.
