  • Patent number: 5899307
Abstract: A wheel motor disconnect includes a rotatable plate with sized apertures including locking detents. A depressor pin extends perpendicularly from the plate. The apertures are received over shouldered spacers or guides which are connected to the wheel hub. In the drive position, the plate is located at the outermost ends of the spacers, and the pin is offset from the spring-loaded drive shaft to allow the shaft to drivingly engage a reduction gear arrangement. To disconnect the drive, the operator urges the plate axially inwardly against the bias of the drive shaft so that the apertures slide inwardly along the spacers to move the shaft out of driving relationship with the reduction gear arrangement. The operator then rotates the plate in a first direction so smaller apertures move into the shouldered area and prevent the plate from moving axially outwardly.

  • Patent number: 4811824
Abstract: A hub clutch used for a four-wheel driving free-wheel device in which, when a knob for manual operation and mounted on a casing is set to an automatic position, a pawl portion of a retainer becomes disengaged with a cam surface defined by a boss portion of the knob so that the device operates in the automatic condition, while when the knob is rotated in a manual lock direction, the pawl portion is engaged by the cam surface of the knob and is cammed to a lock position. When the pawl portion is in the lock position, the device assumes a manually locked state so that a drive gear and a clutch ring are maintained in an engaged condition with each other and stationary system members are separated from rotating system members. Accordingly, no contact force is applied to stationary system members when in the manually locked state.

  • Patent number: 4775040
Abstract: A hub mechanism for four wheel drive vehicles. Movement of the clutch ring into and out of position for interengaging the pinion of the axle end and a housing portion of the wheel hub, is provided by a pair of opposed spring members. The first spring member provides continuous urging for disengagement. A second spring member is coupled to a camming mechanism that is activated by a manually operated dial. Turning the dial physically moves the second spring member relative to the clutch ring. In a retracted position the strong spring member is backed away from the clutch ring to permit disengagement. Opposite dial turning moves the strong spring member for urging engagement of the clutch ring with the pinion.

  • Patent number: 4679764
Abstract: A valve actuator control system, although suitable for many control functions, is especially adapted for remote control of plug-type valves utilizes a unique configuration providing a unitary explosion-proof container to house all electrical components and also providing a manifold assembly that is adapted for either a hydraulic or pneumatic actuator motor with relatively minor modification. The manifold assembly is designed to accept all utilized control valves, relief valves, check valves, flow control devices, and manually operable override controls thereby simplifying installation and maintenance and reducing attendent costs. Three independent solenoid valves, responsive to mechanical feedback provided through the plug-valve's operating stem and integrated into the manifold within the explosion-proof container, provide for actuator motor control including a novel dual speed capability for enhancing plug-valve performance while precluding costly premature wear.

  • Patent number: 4618046
Abstract: A shifting coupling which is preferably provided for the travel mechanisms of overhead conveyors, and which operates in a positively engaging manner counter to a spring which acts in the disengagement direction. The coupling projections or engaging members, which are provided on a coupling flange, are controlled with the aid of two sleeves which are movable relative to one another. Those ends of the sleeves which butt against one another are provided with oppositely extending conical surfaces. Control balls can be pressed into the wedge-shaped recess which results between the two conical surfaces. The control balls press the two sleeves apart in order to engage the coupling. A control sleeve, which is provided with inner conical and annular surfaces, serves for the radial movement of the control balls. During the engagement process, the control sleeve is resiliently prestressed in such a direction that the conical surface thereof contacts the control balls in the direction of coupling engagement.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a self-contained hub assembly that can be placed onto the drive axles of a vehicle to provide either free wheeling of the wheel mounted on the hub or driving from the vehicle drive axle. An axle assembly includes a mounting flange and a shaft. A hub, upon which the vehicle wheel is mounted, is rotatably mounted on the shaft. A cap is selectively locked onto the shaft to engage a drive member, thereby transmitting the driving force of the vehicle axle to the hub and to the wheel.

Abstract: A rotational-locking member such as an endless screw for actuating a sliding door by means of a nut is locked in position by rotational displacement of the nut and is unlocked by means of a device comprising a pulley coupled to the endless screw and rigidly fixed to a clutch-disk. A second clutch-disk slidably mounted on a square sleeve of a bevel-pinion can be rotated by means of a pair of bevel-pinions and a lever. A lug of the second disk cooperates with a helical groove of a stationary cam in order to subject the disk to a helical movement, the rotational motion component of which is imparted to the endless screw after engagement of the disks in order to unlock the screw.

  • Patent number: 4549716
Abstract: A handle arrangement for a hot water tap or faucet which requires an axial and rotational movement of the handle in order to turn the tap "on" or a rotational movement only, in order to turn the tap "off". When applied to a hot water tap the handle arrangement provides a safety device against rotation by young children as the combination of movements is difficult or impossible for young children to overcome. The arrangement comprises a spindle member 11 which is attached to an existing tap spindle 18 by grub screws 19 and co-operates with a drive member 13 fixed to the handle to provide a ratchet arrangement between a drive member 13 and spindle member 11. The ratchet arrangement allows the tap to be turned off merely by rotation of the handle but does not engage when the tap is rotated in the direction to turn the tap on. A hexagonal protrusion 14 inside the handle co-operates with the handle member 11 to cause rotation of the handle when the handle is depressed axially inwardly.

Abstract: This auxiliary control device for manually and rotatably driving, for example in case of failure of the current supply system, a motor and reduction gear unit kinematically connected for example to a winding door or grille, a sectional door, or the like, comprises a pulley adapted when rotated to cause the axial movement of a sliding member through the medium of a cam device disposed across the pulley and the sliding member. This sliding member comprises on the one hand a set of dogs of a first half-coupling which are adapted to engage the dogs of another set rigid with the main driven shaft, and on the other hand noses adapted to engage guiding projections formed on a rotary braking member disposed coaxially to the pulley. When the dogs of the two sets engage each other the noses are fully disengaged from the guiding projections and thus the rotary braking member does not exert any antagonistic torque likely to counteract the actuation of the auxiliary control device.
