Grooved Or Twisted Chute Patents (Class 193/46)
  • Patent number: 4128155
Abstract: A core-spacer-core mandrel loader in which pairs of cores and spacers are automatically loaded upon a mandrel. A transition nose cone is attached to the mandrel to facilitate proper placement of the cores and spacers upon the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4105108
Abstract: An apparatus for orienting halved fruit with the cut sides thereof facing upwardly includes a longitudinally extending vibrating table which is inclined slightly downwardly from the receiving end to the discharge end. The table is provided with longitudinally extending opposed side walls, with a bottom extending therebetween to define a channel along which the fruit translates. In the first, receiving section of the apparatus, the bottom is inclined laterally as well as longitudinally. In the second section, contiguous with the first, a trough narrower than the width of the fruit is disposed generally adjacent to the lower edge of the laterally inclined bottom. The vertical side walls of the trough diverge slightly to increase the width of the trough. In the third section of the apparatus, the bottom is inclined more steeply longitudinally, and the medial side wall of the trough flares outwardly to join one of the side walls of the table.

  • Patent number: 4079830
Abstract: The inventive orienter is used in the output path of a vibratory feeder for axially orienting uniform cylinders. It includes a tube having a side opening spaced from the input end and extending axially along a portion of the tube so cylinders that are not axially oriented fall through the side opening and down to a lower region of the feeder. The tube is rotationally oriented for positioning the lower edge of the side opening relative to a vertical plane through the axis of the tube so that the axially oriented cylinders move along the tube while overhanging the lower edge, and cylinders not axially oriented slide toward the bottom of the tube and fall over the lower edge and through the side opening. The tube preferably has a top opening at the input end, and the top opening preferably overlaps with the side opening so that relatively tall cylinders can enter the input end of the tube standing up and be rejected when they enter the side opening region.

  • Patent number: 4047712
Abstract: A conveyor-distributor apparatus for handling flat rectangular items, has a horizontal conveyor channel; a support face defining the conveyor channel floor on which the lower edges of the substantially upright oriented items are guided; and a plurality of consecutive deflector switches arranged along the conveying path of the conveyor channel. A guiding device is connected to each deflector switch for changing the orientation of the deflected items from the position they assumed in the conveyor channel to a flat-lying, stacking position. Each guiding device is constituted by a slide that comprises a curved deflecting surface having a first surface portion which adjoins the associated deflector switch and which is in alignment with the plane of the items as they emerge from the deflector switch subsequent to their deflection thereby.

  • Patent number: 4034844
Abstract: An apparatus and method for storing, handling and orienting a plurality of containers of the type having a narrow neck portion with respect to another portion of the container, in which the axis of each container extends axially through the neck, includes means, such as standard "unscramblers", for receiving and storing the containers in a randomly distributed fashion and thereafter conveying the containers with the axes of all of the containers oriented parallel with respect to each other. A cam race guide rail arrangement on opposite sides of the conveyor engage and orients the containers such that all of the axes of the containers are parallel with respect to each other in a plane substantially normal to the plane of the conveyor, and with all of the necks of the containers extending in the same direction.
