Abstract: A system and method for brewing and dispensing beverages may use customer profiling to select beverages to be produced and presented to a given customer and/or messages to be displayed to the customer, based on customer-specific information stored on a loyalty card, in a local system, or remotely. A user interface mechanism may receive input identifying the given customer. A controller may select a base drink recipe dependent on the customer's identity, and may initiate production of a beverage using the selected drink recipe. Each drink recipe may specify an amount of water, coffee, flavorings, dairy, and/or other ingredients, and may be further customizable to add or remove ingredients and/or to change an amount thereof, based on received user input. The stored customer-specific information may include a customer identifier, account information, a purchase history, a message history, drink recipes, and/or an email address for each of a plurality of customers.

Abstract: A data processing device is provided between a cash processing terminal cluster in a local network and an external network outside the local network. The data processing device includes a data acquisition section that acquires, in the local network, serial numbers obtained from banknotes read by a cash processing terminal configuring the cash processing terminal cluster, and results of recognition of the banknotes by the cash processing terminal; a storage controller that associates the serial numbers and the recognition results with each other and stores the serial numbers and the recognition results in a storage section; and a comparison section that, in cases in which the serial numbers and banknote recognition results have been acquired from any cash processing terminal configuring the cash processing terminal cluster, compares the banknote recognition results against the stored recognition results associated with the serial numbers.

Abstract: In order to make it easy to change the necessary device specifications when adapted to paper currencies in circulation in a plurality of countries and regions, a paper currency processing device (M1) has: a paper currency slot (M5) which is capable of handling the paper currency (T) of multiple currency circulation regions from the outside of the device; a paper currency transfer mechanism for transferring the paper currency (T) between the paper currency slot (M5) and various locations inside the device; and a plurality of paper currency cases linked to the paper currency transfer mechanism. Abstract: A bill recognizing and counting apparatus includes an operation unit that receives setting of bill processing modes including a denomination mode, a counting mode, a different-denomination recognition mode, and an authenticity determination mode; a feeding and transporting mechanism; and a control unit that performs control for changing a processing speed according to the bill processing mode. When the bill processing mode is in the counting mode, the different-denomination recognition mode, or the authenticity determination mode, the control unit increases the processing speed by setting the feeding and transporting mechanism to a higher speed than the speed set in the denomination mode. The increase in speed is in accordance with a reduced time necessary to process a reduced amount of data associated with the denomination mode.

The method includes communicating with a social networking site that posts images from posting entities to receiving entities. The image can have data that points to a product database. The data is processed to determine whether there is a sale-related intent such as a product in a product database. The data is used to access a database of products for sale from the merchant. When the sale-related intent applies, the system transmits the image through the social networking site with a buy button associated with the transmission such that a recipient can easily purchase a product.

The method includes receiving a posting of text, an image or a video through Facebook, identifying data associated with the posting and determining whether the data identifies a product within a database of products for sale from the posting entity. When the determination indicates that there is no reference to the product in the product database, the method includes transmitting the posting through Facebook without a buy now button. When the determination indicates that the posting references the product, thus indicating a sale-related intent, the method includes transmitting the posting through Facebook with a buy option, receiving a purchase interaction associated with the buy option and processing a purchase of the product.

Abstract: A method for checking the genuineness of a security feature on a security document. The security feature exhibits an alteration in the visible range when excited by a flash of light. The method comprises taking at least one first image of the unexcited security feature using a mobile telephone camera with an integrated flash function. Then, exciting at least one second image of the security feature using the flash function of the same mobile telephone. Optionally, setting up a wireless link using the telephone function or an Internet function on the mobile telephone, and at least one or both of the images or an authentication function derived from the difference between the two images is/are transmitted to a receiver having a database, the authentication is evaluated and/or the authentication is logged with the receiver.

Abstract: A smart safe include one or more note validators. Access to the note validators and internal workings of the smart safe is defined by an applicable level of security at the smart safe. The applicable level of security may be dependent on whether the smart safe is experiencing an error condition and/or the identification of a user trying to access the smart safe. By allowing some users limited access to the note validators, the users may be able to resolve some error conditions without compromising the integrity of notes stored within the smart safe and without relying on dedicated service personnel to resolve the error condition at the smart safe.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to systems, methods, and computer program products for extracting check data and using the check data for determining a disposition of a check. The system, method, and computer program product are configured to: a) receive an image of a check; b) apply an optical character recognition process to at least a portion of the image of the check; c) convert one or more image portions of the at least a portion of the image to text based data based at least partially on the application; d) identify a date of the check based on the text based data obtained from the one or more image portions; e) compare the date of the check to one or more authorization parameters; and f) provide a disposition of the check based on the comparison of the date of the check to the one or more authorization parameters.

A host controller is communicatively coupled to the detector controller. The detector controller processes the raw detector information to determine processed detector information. The detector controller then communicates the processed detector information to the host controller.

Abstract: A temporary storage in a medium storing device carries out ON/OFF monitoring of a jam sensor between a winding start position of a drum and a clamp point of a delivering roller. Accordingly, when bills are rewound in the reset operation, even when a relationship between a pulse count and a bill position becomes different from actual one, it is possible to detect, without using a pulse count, a jam between the winding start position and the clamp point. It is possible to more securely detect the abnormality in bill storing in comparison with the prior art.

Abstract: A currency bill processing system includes a transport mechanism that is configured to transport bills from an input receptacle along a transport path that extends generally horizontally past at least one detector. The transport path transitions generally-vertically upward between a first and a second output receptacle. The transport mechanism is configured to deliver some of the bills toward a first end of the system into the first output receptacle and some of the bills toward a second end of the system into the second output receptacle. The system provides access openings in a front side of the system that are proximate the first and the second output receptacles thereby permitting operator access into the first and the second output receptacles from the front side.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a banknote handling machine includes a recognition unit configured to recognize a kind of each banknote taken in a take-in unit, a plurality of stacking units, respectively configured to stack therein the banknotes, a transport unit configured to transport the banknotes, respectively recognized by the recognition unit, to any of the plurality of stacking units, an instruction accepting unit configured to accept an instruction concerning an automatic decision mode provided for deciding the kind of the banknotes to be stacked, by utilizing a recognition result obtained by the recognition unit, for each of the plurality of stacking units, and a control unit configured to control the transport unit to transport each banknote to a destination, which destination is decided based on the instruction accepted by the instruction accepting unit and on the recognition result obtained by the recognition unit.

Abstract: A voucher machine, particularly an automated teller machine, for the input and output of vouchers such as cash or checks, having a processing section (1) for transporting and processing vouchers to be input and output, is characterized in that the processing section (1) has two processing circuits (5, 6) for processing input vouchers which allows rapid output of vouchers identified as unsuitable for acceptance.
