Patent number: 8957265Abstract: Systems and methods for extracting recoverable materials from source materials are provided. Source materials are introduced into a furnace. A condition is created within the furnace in which a gaseous pressure within the furnace is less than an atmospheric pressure outside of the furnace by removing air from within the furnace with a vacuum pump. Hydrocarbons contained within the source material are separated from the source material without using a significant amount of water by heating the source material to a temperature sufficient to cause the hydrocarbons to liquefy or vaporize. The liquefied hydrocarbons or vaporized hydrocarbons are then captured.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2014Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: Green Technology LLCInventors: John Lee Horning, Jan H. Patent number: 8722949Abstract: Systems and methods for coal liquefaction are provided. According to one embodiment, coal is introduced into a plasma furnace. A plasma energy field is generated within the plasma furnace by causing an electrical discharge between a pair of arc rods located within the plasma furnace and positioned above the coal. Hydrocarbons contained within the coal are separated from the coal by causing the plasma energy field to penetrate the coal and heat the coal to a temperature sufficient to liquefy the hydrocarbons by focusing and drawing the plasma energy field through the coal with a magnetic field created proximate to the coal. The liquefied hydrocarbons are then captured.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2013Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: Green Technology LLCInventors: John Lee Horning, Jan H. Publication number: 20080156701Abstract: The invention may be used at installations with both an atmospheric column, and those with simultaneous application of an atmospheric column and a vacuum one and intended for fractional distillation of oil. The main distinctive feature of the method lies in the fact the hydrocarbon material is affected through primary and principal excitation by means of electromagnetic vibrations. The primary influence upon the hydrocarbon material is carried out prior to its feeding for thermal cracking, while the, principal influence is fulfilled in the rectifying column. For the method to be implemented, the primary excitation source in the installation is realized in a form of an electromagnetic oscillator, and the rectifying column is realized with possibility of resonance excitation provided, being the main exciter of the hydrocarbon material. The invention makes it possible to increase the percentage of output of lighter fractions, as well as to raise the quality of processing of raw materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2005Publication date: July 3, 2008Inventor: Nikolai Gennadievich Shlyachtin

Patent number: 5382328Abstract: For the processing of waste oil, i.e. environmentally safe processing, a process and installation are used whereby the waste oil is preheated with the distillation gases and is then distilled itself by burning the distilled waste oil. The liquid and solid residues are exposed to the flame produced by the combustion of the distilled waste oil, while the gaseous residues are heated to over 1,200.degree. C. in a long-hold chamber constructed as a fume incinerator. In order to calcine the solid or burn the liquid residues, they are collected in the distillation chamber and transported via a rotating cylinder and a chute into the combustion chamber where they are then correspondingly calcined by the burner flame. In contrast, the gaseous residues are fed to a long-hold chamber, whereby the latter is a pipe system with a length of 75 m or more.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1992Date of Patent: January 17, 1995Inventors: Gerd Drespa, Heinz-Gunter Rittscher

Patent number: 4904345Abstract: In the past, it has proven difficult to separate dirt and water from petroleum emulsions of the type found, e.g. in settling ponds. A relatively simple apparatus for effecting such separation includes a sifter or screening device for removing large solid impurities from the emulsion, a preheater for reducing the viscosity of the emulsion, a centrifuge or filter for separating most of the dirt particles from the emulsion, a settling tank for receiving the emulsion from the dirt separator, and an evaporator for separating most of the water from the petroleum. The dirt removed in the dirt separator with residual oil attached thereto is mixed with a fuel oil and burned to create the heat necessary to evaporate the water. The petroleum separated in the evaporator is cycled through the preheater for heating incoming dirty petroleum emulsion. The evaporator contains trays carrying a plurality of rows of tubes. The water-containing emulsion is fed into the uppermost tray into heat exchange contact with the tubes.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1986Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Inventor: Malcolm McCants
