Gate Patents (Class 198/530)
  • Patent number: 4310089
Abstract: A conveyor for transport of bags of refuse comprising a feed tube in which bags of refuse are introduced and transported from one end to the other and a feed screw in the tube for driving the bags of refuse through the tube. The feed screw is constructed as a helix forming successive spaced flanges and the pitch of the helix is such that the space between successive flanges will accommodate a bag of refuse of predetermined maximum overall size. The feed screw is eccentrically journaled in the feed tube and is in tangential contact at the bottom thereof. A charging device for introducing the bags of refuse into the feed tube comprises a vertical tube with an inlet unit which limits the size of the bag of refuse which can be introduced to that which can be accommodated between the flanges of the helix.

  • Patent number: 4250987
Abstract: This invention is a flow control gate apparatus mounted between a discharge opening of a hopper assembly and between a portion of a conveyor assembly operable to control amount of grain or the like being discharged into the interior of the conveyor means. The conveyor assembly includes a conveyor housing having a conveyor chain assembly mounted therein with spaced flight members to move the material laterally. The slide gate assembly is movable to opened and closed positions and control size of the discharge through the conveyor assembly having a horizontally movable slide gate member actuated by a control handle assembly. The control handle assembly includes a rack member secured to the slide gate member, a handle member mounted on a support shaft, and a pinion gear mounted on the support shaft engagable with the rack member to longitudinally move the slide gate member. The slide gate assembly is very compact requiring little vertical height so it can be easily installed in existing conveyor assembly system.

  • Patent number: 4245735
Abstract: A device for transferring logs one by one from an inlet side to an outlet side, comprising two pairs of disks, each pair comprising two disks supported on separate parallel shafts to carry out continuous reciprocating rotary movements in opposite directions. Each disk is provided with a peripheral notch which in the extreme positions of the rotary movement of the disks are directed toward said inlet side and said outlet side and in the intermediate position of said rotary movement form a common separating chute. Logs to be separated are fed to the notch of the inlet side disk in its said extreme position. A tilting lever is supported at one end of the shaft of the outlet side disk and connected at the opposite end to the inlet side disk in such a way that said tilting lever is raised in an inclined position into said separating chute in said intermediate position and thereby forces the log or logs positioned in said chute to roll from the notch of the inlet side disk towards the notch of the outlet side disk.

  • Patent number: 4199054
Abstract: A door opener mechanism for the side doors in a feed or grain elevator or conveyor in which the doors are hinged to the sides of the conveyor includes a crank arm pivotally connected to the conveyor at a point intermediate the side walls to provide rotation of the crank arm about a vertical axis. The crank arm is connected to the hinged doors by links and the crank arm is connected to a control arm by a link. The control arm is arranged to be connected to ropes for remote control of the door opening device. The control mechanism employed provides a relatively low profile, thus enabling placement of the conveyor and door opening mechanism close to a ceiling, which is desirable in places of limited space such as old barns.

  • Patent number: 4149622
Abstract: A device is described for capturing certain predetermined types of mail pieces from a moving mail flow and for regulating the subsequent delivery thereof to processing equipment. The device is comprised of a receiving station and a delivery station linked by a common narrow transport. The latter forms a shallow shelf or ledge situated at the bottom of the receiving station and adapted at any given time to catch a limited number of certain types of mail from a mixed stream as it flows through the station. Additionally, the receiving station includes a vane-like member for selectively deflecting all of the mail from the transport. The operation of the member is under control of the delivery station and depends upon whether or not mail pieces awaiting further processing downstream are present in the station. The motion of the transport is controlled by both the delivery station and the processing equipment to insure that they will be kept continuously supplied with mail.

  • Patent number: 4147557
Abstract: The feed blanket is conditioned prior to entering the mill to provide more uniformity of thickness and to control maximum thickness. Overfeeding is prevented by self-regulated by-passing of excess feed. Plural mills of a milling tandem can be made to operate in a parallel fashion while the remaining ones continue to operate in their usual series fashion.

  • Patent number: 4096939
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed which provides an entrance gating structure for spacing the entry of containers carried by a conveyor into a testing device. The containers arrive at the testing device under line pressure and are then permitted to enter a testing apparatus where they are conveyed through the testing device and then returned to the conveyor. The gating device is a spring-loaded pivot arm having a pair of legs. One leg stops the flow of containers until the prior container clears the length of the long or other leg. The gate functions automatically without requiring any external operator.

  • Patent number: 4043443
Abstract: A fruit sub-sampler and grading table, especially for use with canning tomatoes, includes a frame. A measured supply of tomatoes is discharged at the entrance end of the frame and as it progresses toward the exit end of the frame is divided longitudinally into two streams. The first stream as it further advances is split to follow a primary path and a parallel but transversely spaced secondary path. Separate belt conveyors individually continue the two paths and are separately controllable as to speed by a pair of inspectors who transfer certain fruit from the belt conveyors to individual containers. These are disposed in the space between the conveyors and are supported on the frame by load cells connected to display individual container weights. Fruit discharged from the exit end of the belt conveyors is carried by a return conveyor toward the entrance end of the conveyor. Fruit in the second stream is discharged over a random selection drum.

  • Patent number: 4023673
Abstract: An endless single chain conveyor for moving bulk material to separate selective locations. The conveyor has a dropout section including a sliding door movable to an open position to allow material to drop from the conveyor intermediate the ends of the conveyor. Shaker structure movable to an operable position when the door is in its open position has a roller engageable with the chain of the conveyor so that the chain repetitively moves up and down as it rides over the roller so that the material carried by the conveyor will fall through the discharge opening of the dropout section of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 3990586
Abstract: An apparatus is described for applying leverlids to filled paint cans so that a later machine may fit the lids onto the cans by downward pressure. The apparatus has an inclined chute onto which the lids are fed and which is arranged to discharge the lids accurately onto paint cans moving on a horizontal conveyor beneath the apparatus. To control the movement of the lids onto the cans two release members rotatable about generally vertical axes are mounted on either side of the chute outlet so as to obstruct the outlet until such time as a paint can on the conveyor frees the release members for movement and thereafter pushes the release members aside.
