  • Patent number: 4417535
Abstract: A workpiece transporter for a sewing machine comprises an endless conveyor belt looped around a driving sheave and several deflecting rollers, the latter including a first and a second roller carried on the free ends of respective spring-loaded levers placing that belt only under a moderate tension. The first deflecting roller is closely juxtaposed with the upstream side of the driving sheave, its axis defining with that of the sheave and with the fulcrum of its lever an obtuse triangle whose vertex angle increases as that roller approaches the sheave when an obstacle retards the belt motion, such approach clamping the belt more tightly between the roller and the sheave for firmer entrainment.

  • Patent number: 4396112
Abstract: A part of the arcuate guides for the hinged belt (13) of the conveyor consists of solid curved pieces (247, 270) which are fastened releasably to parts of the conveyor frame. In the region of the drive station, guide plates (35; 299) which are fastened to the side pieces (17, 18; 220) are assigned to the empty side of the hinged belt. A U-shaped baseplate (20; 232) is connected with its upwardly projecting legs, to the side pieces (17, 18; 220). If the conveyor is a lifting conveyor with a lower and an upper horizontal longitudinal section as well as with a longitudinal section which is directed obliquely upwards, the arcuate guides consist of curved crosspieces (33, 34; 276, 294) which extend between the side pieces (17, 18; 220), in the region of the mutually angled longitudinal sections.

  • Patent number: 4396111
Abstract: A conveyor system that may be driven in a forward or a reverse direction is provided with jam detectors that are effective to interrupt the operation of the conveyor chain (10) upon encountering a jam condition in either direction of drive. The chain (10) is driven about idler sprockets (19 and 53) mounted in housings (21 and 51) that are slidably mounted on a T-bar frame (22). When the chain is driven in a forward direction A, a jam condition causes housings (21) to slide and operate a switch (23) to interrupt power to a motor (18). When the direction of drive is reversed, housing (21) is held from movement by a lock (47), and a lock (54) associated with housing (51) is released to allow the housing (51) to shift in response to a jam condition to operate a switch (58) to again interrupt the power applied to the motor (18).

  • Patent number: 4369617
Abstract: The idler drum shaft (59) of a feeder conveyor (28, 29) has a pair of detachable extensions (68, 69, 168) which when removed permit a floating idler roller (47) and the central portion (63) of the shaft (59) to be removed in a direction parallel to the conveyor side walls (41, 42, 116). The idler roller support arms (66, 67) of inside mounted tensioning mechanisms (56, 57) are connected with the shaft extensions (68, 69, 168) and also serve as abutments cooperating with upper and lower stops (81, 82) limiting vertical swinging movement of the floating idler roller (47). Washers (114) may be used to lengthen the idler drum shaft and to maintain a predetermined minimum lateral spacing between the idler drum support arms (66, 67).
