Abstract: A garment retaining apparatus comprises an elastic strap member having a first end portion, a middle portion and a second end portion, a pair of first end members attached to the first end portion by means of a D-ring, a second end member attached to the second end portion by means of a strap adjuster, a cross strap member inserted over the elastic strap member, and a plurality of detachable hose grips attached to the pair of the first end members and the second end member. The elastic strap member along with the cross strap member is secured around the leg of a wearer and the pair of first end members and the second end member is attached to a garment in different positions by the plurality of detachable hose grips allowing the garment to be secured in a desired position to obtain a neat appearance.

Abstract: The method and apparatus for securing a lower garment over a garment wearer's stomach to keep the lower garment from drooping without the need to secure the lower garment to an upper garment or to require the need for a separate waist belt. An elastic belt with Velcro is connected to suspender clips which are attached to the lower garment before the garment is worn. When the lower garment is worn, the garment is pulled up with the belt suspenders and secured over the stomach, and when the wearer is comfortable, the Velcro is pressed together. The apparatus are designed to be worn under an upper garment that is not tucked into the lower garment. The benefits of this invention are that it holds up the lower garment without the need for traditional suspenders, and it provides the wearer with a more attractive appearance because the apparatus is covered by the upper garment and holds the stomach in, giving the wearer a slimmer look.

A method of heating a person's body includes securing suspenders to an article of clothing that covers at least a portion of the person's lower body. The method also includes positioning suspender straps about the person's shoulders, and securing one or more portable heat-producing elements to one or more of the suspender straps. In addition, the method includes positioning an outer clothing layer about the person's body and the heat-producing element(s) so that the outer clothing layer surrounds the heat-producing element(s).

Abstract: A harness for holding the distal end of a pant leg about the ankle region of a person who is wearing long pants is disclosed herein. The harness includes an elongate first strap, an elongate second strap, and a pair of releasable fasteners. The first strap has two ends, and the second strap has two ends joined to the first strap respectively proximate the two ends of the first strap. The fasteners are respectively located at the two ends of the first strap. In this configuration, the first strap is adapted for fitting about the sole of a foot of the person, and the second strap is adapted for fitting about the heel of the foot. The fasteners are adapted for being attached to the distal end of the pant leg so as to hold the distal end of the pant leg in place about the person's ankle region.

Abstract: A garment strap assembly used to hold up an individual's pants by attaching one end of the strap assembly to the waist and then holding the opposite end of the strap in an extended position under the wearer's upper garment. The strap assembly includes an elastic strap with an alligator-style clip attached to its proximal end that selectively attaches to the upper edge of the pant's waist. Attached to distal end of the strap is first magnet. During use, the clip is attached to the waist band and the strap extends upward and under the upper garment a sufficient elevation to exert an upward force on the waist band. A decorative button with a second magnet located therein is placed over the outside surface of the upper garment opposite the first magnet. The first and second magnets are magnetically attracted to securely hold the strap in fixed position under the upper garment.

Abstract: A combination of protective clothing, as for a firefighter, utilizes a pair of pants having a waist portion and a pair of suspenders having straps, which are attachable detachably to the waist portion. The waist portion has a plurality of horizontally extending slots, one said slot for each said strap, which slots in one contemplated embodiment are defined by strips of fabric, webbing, or other material sewn at opposite ends to the waist portion and which slots in another contemplated embodiment penetrate the waist portion and may have bound edges. Each strap when attached to the waist portion extends through an associated one of the slots, whereupon such strap is folded upwardly and is fastened releasably to itself by a fastener, such as a snap fastener, which is separated from a wearer by a portion of said strap, or such as a hook-and-loop fastener.

Abstract: Suspenders for suspending trousers. The suspenders include straps and hooks generally fixed at ends of the straps. At least one of the hooks has a strap-hold at a first end thereof for engaging at least one of the straps and a hook portion at a second end thereof for engaging at least one loop on the trousers. The strap-hold has a longitudinal axis and the hook portion extends in a direction which is generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the strap-hold. The hook portion is configured to generally facilitate hooking of the hook portion on the at least one loop on the trousers.

Abstract: Suspenders and methods of using them have general-purpose properties necessitating no special processing as long as normal type trousers with belt loops are concerned, and realize quick, certain and easy fastening and undoing, and also successive application without damaging the trousers. The suspenders comprise hooks fixed at the free ends of straps in the suspenders. The method of using them comprises the step of engaging the hooks with appropriate loops selected from among the loops of trousers respectively.

Abstract: A kit for supporting a pair of trousers on a wearer's body comprises a plurality of connectors for connection to the upper part of the trousers at two pairs of spaced locations at the front and rear of the trousers. The kit also includes a belt for attachment to the connectors such that the belt extends from the one of the connectors in the front of the trousers upwards along the wearer's chest and over the wearer's shoulder down the wearer's back and connected to one of the connectors at the rear of the trousers and extending along the wearer's back towards and connected to the second one of the connectors at the rear of the trousers. Abstract: A gripping apparatus, and more specifically a gripping apparatus that can be used with a shirttail retaining harness to grip garments and secure them in place without damaging the garments. The gripping apparatus 30 comprises an upper member 34 having a substantially flat, elastic upper surface 32 and a lower member 38 having a substantially non-flat, rigid lower surface 36. When the gripping apparatus is in a closed position to grip a garment, the lower member 38 is urged into contact with the upper member 34, such that the lower surface 36 elastically deforms the upper surface 32.

Abstract: A buckle which includes a first member having a nipple around which a second member can rotate in the plane of the buckle. The buckle can advantageously be used to couple a back supporting belt to a shoulder strap of a pair of suspenders or the like. The rotational movement of one buckle member with respect to the other buckle member in the plane of the buckle facilitates adjustment of the shoulder straps to accommodate the various shoulder widths of different wearers. The first and second buckle members are adapted to breakaway or decouple when the buckle is subjected to a load or force greater than a predetermined level.

Abstract: An attachment device and method of operation is described for securing an article of clothing, such as a pair of suspenders, to a pair of pants or a skirt. The attachment device is connected to the suspenders by a loop of flexible material. An embodiment of the attachment device uses a gripping mechanism having a rotatable flap that is adapted to pass through an opening in the flexible loop. The opening in the loop is alternatively used for attachment to a button affixed to the article of clothing.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improved women's stocking and stocking support that utilizes a stocking support belt encircling the hip area of the wearer having only one stocking fastener on each side and a pair of normally cut (elongated to the wearer's crotch) individual stockings, each of which is made of a stretchable nylon material, each stocking having a single slit or fastener on the outside hip area so that the stockings may be held in place comfortably for long, extended wear on a single side fastener while remaining, because of the stretchability of the material, firmly and attractively in place between the crotch area of the wearer, the leg portions, and the hip areas. Other articles of clothing such as tank tops or bodysuits can also be used as support members for the stretchable hose.

Abstract: A resilient shirt retainer for retaining the shirttails of a garment in tucked, fully extended or deployed configuration on the body of a wearer. The shirt retainer includes a pair of narrow, elastic cross-straps disposed in an X-configuration and stitched at the center where the straps cross, each of the elastic cross-straps being covered with a pleated cloth sheath. A retainer clip is attached to each end of the cross-straps for removably securing the cross-straps to the front and rear shirttail portions of the garment. The cross-straps are deployed between the infant's legs to maintain the shirttails in a tucked or downwardly-deployed configuration.

Abstract: A shirttail retaining harness (10) is disclosed comprising a pair of elongate straps (12, 14), a means for connecting the straps to a garment (18) and, a connecting member (16) which retains a portion of the straps in spaced relation. The connecting member (16) is located away from the crotch and genital area of a wearer. The shirttail retaining harness (10) is adapted so that, in use, the straps (12, 14) thereof pass along the inside of the thighs of the wearer in the crotch area and diverge at both ends for attachment to a shirttail. An optional clasp (19) is also provided wherein the shirttail cloth is gripped between a protruding member (18e) and a layer of resilient material (18f).

Abstract: A combination suspenders for use with button and buttonless trousers includes interchangeable clip ends and button strap ends connected to the suspender straps via a clip carrier. The clip carrier is formed of a horizontally folded flexible material forming a channel which engages a button strap end or a connector on the clip end having a pair of horizontally extending opposed arms. In one embodiment, the clip connector is T-shaped with outwardly extending arms and engages the channel via a slit which vertically bisects the channel into opposed halves. In another embodiment, the clip connector is C-shaped and engages the channel from the outside with inwardly extending arms.

The suspender end comprises an elongated strip of flexible material having a middle portion and two end portions, each end portion of the strip including a fastening means, and a releasable fastening means of two parts affixed to the middle portion of the strip, the two parts of the releasable fastening means being laterally spaced from one another such that when the strip is folded on a bias over on itself, the two parts of the fastening means are able to engage each other and securely lock.
