Abstract: A system, methods, and apparatus for preventing receptacle overfilling are presented. The system can include a sensor member configured to couple with a receptacle and sense a material level within the receptacle, such as via a sight glass of the receptacle. The system can include a controller in operable communication with the sensor member and configured to instantiate the shutoff of material flow from a material dispensing system if a particular material level is detected by the sensor member. The system can include an intermediate member configured to relay communications between the sensor member and the controller. The intermediate member can be coupled to a fluid line and can further act as a holster for the sensor member, such as by facilitating the coupling of the sensor member to the intermediate member and/or the fluid line.
Abstract: An environmentally protected switch and water activated device using the switch is disclosed. The switch comprises an elongate housing having an open end and divided into a pair of chambers and into which a probe is inserted. When water infiltrates the housing an electrical circuit is completed between the two probes. There is also disclosed a lens/selector assembly comprising a selector ring encircling a lens and a wave spring which biases the selector ring into one of a number of predetermined positions around the lens. Illustratively, a magnet is placed within the selector ring a position of which can be detected by electronics within the lens.
Abstract: A positive pressure displacement fluid sampler, comprising: a sample probe disposed in a sample probe connection; a needle valve in communication with the sample probe; a three-way solenoid valve disposed between the needle valve, a sample collection body and a sample collection tank; an adjustment stem for adjusting the size of the sample to be collected on each draw; and a confirmation switch for sending an electronic or other type signal for confirming that a sample or samples have actually been collected at prescribed times and/or frequencies. The displacement sampler may be spring-loaded and the confirmation switch may comprise a radio transmitter.
Abstract: Actuators for a device are described. In one aspect, an actuator for a device includes a boss member adapted to engage the device, the boss member having a cylindrical body portion and a handle portion, the body portion including at least one channel engageable with a guiding plate connected with the device, wherein upon manipulation of the handle portion, the boss member is movable from an initial position to an actuating position whereby an actuating member is adapted to actuate the device.
Abstract: A bare floor cleaner has a foot with a dry suction nozzle and a handle assembly pivotally connected to the foot assembly. A diverter mounted in the working air conduit between the foot assembly and the handle assembly is movable by movement of the handle assembly between a dry suction position and a wet mop position for selectively at least partially blocking working air flow from the dry suction nozzle to a collection assembly. A fluid delivery system includes a user operated trigger for actuating the fluid delivery system to distribute fluid in the wet mop position and deactivating a motor/fan assembly. A trigger lock prevents cleaning solution from being distributed when the handle is in dry mode position. The fluid delivery system includes a heating element to raise the temperature of the cleaning solution before it is distributed to the surface to be cleaned. Support glides on the foot reduce the surface area contact between the foot pad and the surface to be cleaned.
Abstract: A substrate, a method for producing a substrate, and a switch incorporating a substrate are disclosed. In one embodiment, the substrate has a first layer, a first electrode deposited on the first layer, and a second layer mated to the first layer. The second layer defines a duct leading from the first electrode to a surface of the second layer opposite the first electrode. A liquid electrode fills at least a portion of the duct.

Abstract: A control system for stopping a plumbing-related flooding situation in a building includes at least one sensor for accumulating water and producing a low voltage electrical control signal when sufficient water is accumulated. An actuating system receives the control signal and in turn routes 110 volt current to an electrically activated valve located in a main feed conduit of the plumbing system. The reopening of the valve is achieved by a manually operated electrical switch.
Abstract: A compensating device which includes a weighted lever adapted to be selectively disposed in restraining relation to a trip arm of an electrical switch controlling member responsive to head pressure in a reservoir main for cutting in or cutting out reservoir filling pumps, and operating for selectively delaying pump cut-out.
Abstract: A balance beam adjustable for a desired liquid level in a reservoir is under the control of a device responsive to pressure head in a main leading from, and reflecting the liquid level in, the reservoir, the beam being in charge of a pump control for one or more pumps for activating the pumps when required when the liquid level drops in the reservoir, whereby to substantially maintain the liquid level. A timer-operated anti-stagnation or anti-icing control device is provided in association with the beam.
