  • Patent number: 5738206
Abstract: A child resistant switch lock having a body and a slide which can be installed over an existing mounted toggle-type or rocker-type switch. The slide is arranged to operate the toggle handle or rocker between an on and off positions. Stopping tabs on the body prevent movement of the slide from the off to the on positions unless the stopping tabs are first depressed. The required two handed operation, one to depress the stopping tabs and one to advance the slide, make operation by a child very difficult. The slide can operate the toggle handle of a toggle-type switch directly or the rocker of the rocker-type switch through intermediate cams contained in the body.

  • Patent number: 5577600
Abstract: A switch lock-out device to prevent unintended operation of a power tool through inadvertent actuation of a trigger operably associated with a motor as disclosed. The trigger is pivotally mounted in handle grip for energizing the power tool when depressed. An outer free end of the trigger extends within the handle grip. The switch lock-out device includes an integral multiple-armed element that is pivotally mounted within the handle grip. The pivotally mounted multiple-armed element includes a first arm that engages the outer free end of the trigger to prevent actuation, a second arm that includes a manual engageable button that extends outside of the handle grip and a third arm that engages an internal wall of the handle grip in biased and resilient engagement. When the manually engageable button is depressed, a first arm of the multiple-armed element is pivoted out of engagement with the free end of the trigger for actuation of the trigger to operate the power tool.

  • Patent number: 5418404
Abstract: In a data processing device, when exchanging a plug-in package with another without breaking the power to be supplied to the data processing device, a package removing lever is equipped with a locking piece. The lever does not move and the package hence cannot be removed, until the locking piece is released. In response to the release operation of the locking piece, a switch is activated to break off the power supply for the package. After the package is mounted perfectly, the power for the package is switched on by the action of the locking piece, thus preventing any misoperation when removing the package.

  • Patent number: 5380966
Abstract: A housing to accommodate an alarm conducting clip is made of electrically insulating material having a small aperture at one end for an electric cord passing therethrough, a large aperture at opposite end having a passage formed in-between the apertures adapted to receive a pair of copper plates at inner top and bottom portions, respectively, and a pair of slanting slots at respective walls adapted to receive an actuated rod which is adapted to press a clip to close or to open at its free ends. The clip is formed in a V-shaped profile having the closed end inserted into the housing through the large aperture with the opposite free ends protruding therefrom. The constantly open free ends engage the two copper plates, respectively, that forms a closed circuit of the alarm. The free ends will be forced to close by the activating rod and thus disengage from the two copper plates and forming an open circuit of the alarm, thereafter.

  • Patent number: 5326948
Abstract: An equipment unit protection switch from an in-service equipment unit to a standby equipment unit is realized prior to any movement of the active equipment unit about to be removed from an equipment frame in which it is inserted. This is achieved by advantageously incorporating apparatus for generating an equipment unit removal indication signal that enables a controller to anticipate the removal of the equipment unit from the equipment frame. To this end, the equipment units employ an equipment unit latch and an associated switch to generate the equipment removal indication signal. Initial movement of the latch causes the equipment unit removal indication signal to be generated prior to any movement of the equipment unit in the frame in which it is inserted.

  • Patent number: 5047598
Abstract: An electrical switch includes a rocker-type actuator adapted to be pivoted between first and second positions within a housing in order to close and open switch contacts. The actuator slidably supports a latch which normally engages the housing to prevent the actuator from being pivoted to its switch-closed position. By pulling on the latch and then lifting on the actuator, the actuator may be pivoted to its switch-closed position; the two-step operation protecting against accidental actuation of the switch. The actuator may be returned to its switch-open position by a simple single motion thereby enabling rapid opening of the switch under emergency conditions. A high strength rivet supports the actuator for pivoting within the housing and also supports the latch to pivot with and to slide relative to the actuator.
