  • Patent number: 4857682
Abstract: An electrical switch actuator mechanism which has an accurately aligned position. The actuator operates printed circuit board pushbutton switches by depressing a spring finger to operate each pushbutton. Each of the fingers has a raised land with a precisely angled slope which a rub bar on the back of the actuator handle rides upon to depress the spring. However, the angled slope and the spring action of the leaf spring also act backward against the rub bar to precisely locate the position of the actuator handle so that a group of such switches are properly aligned when the switches are in the same position.

  • Patent number: 4845803
Abstract: A cleaner having a rectilinearly movable hand grip, movable along the axis of the cleaner handle, is provided with a switch actuator that can initiate action of a switch fixed relative to the handle and, therefore, not movable with the hand grip. The switch actuator includes a lost motion arrangement engageable over a switch button of the switch so that the switch actuator and switch remain in an engaged position independent of the axial location of the hand grip. The cleaner may be a power drive cleaner in which movement of the hand grip controls power driven movement of the cleaner. In this case, the hand grip and handle may have provision for placing the cleaner in a non-drive, neutral position.

  • Patent number: 4794213
Abstract: A delayed action switch actuator includes a spring attached to one corner of a face plate, a suction cup and a ring-like toggle engaging member, sized to surround the toggle passing through the face plate, connecting the spring to the suction cup. The spring is sized to be in tension when the toggle-engaging member is in a toggle-engaging position. The suction cup is affixable to a roughened surface area on the face plate. The suction cup forms an imperfect seal with the roughened surface area, which results in the suction cup releasing after a period of time, such as a minute or two. The toggle is located between the point of attachment of the spring on one side of the face plate and the roughened area on the other side of the face plate. When the suction cup releases, the spring, which is in tension, pulls on the toggle-engaging member which subsequently trips the toggle.

  • Patent number: 4612424
Abstract: The invention has an enclosure, a circuit breaker mounted inside the enclosure, and a hand lever rotatably mounted upon a door of the enclosure. A drive shaft is rotatably attached at a first end to the circuit breaker so that rotation of the drive shaft operates the circuit breaker. When the door is closed a second end of the drive shaft seats in a socket in the hand lever, and rotation of the hand lever rotates the drive shaft. A spring clip is mounted within the hand lever, and the spring clip grips the second end of the drive shaft so that force applied by the hand lever to rotate the drive shaft may deform the spring clip thereby permitting deflection in a coupling between the hand lever and the drive shaft. A retainer plate attached to the hand lever catches the drive shaft when the spring clip is deformed by the force and thereby prevents opening of the door as a safety measure. The drive shaft has a reduced cross-section region between the first end and the second end.

  • Patent number: 4425487
Abstract: A unitized manual actuator assembly is attached to a printed circuit board for operating poppet switches mounted thereon. The actuator assembly comprises a two-piece housing having a pair of integral tube guides disposed in the housing. A pin is slideably disposed in each tube guide with one end protruding out of the housing for operating the switches. The internal end of each pin has an integral hollow cap covering and protecting the upper open end of its associated tube guide. A coil spring surrounds each tube guide and engages the integral hollow cap of the pin to bias it against a rocker member pivotally mounted in the housing. The rocker member has an operator portion extending through an opening in the housing and a pair of oppositely extending arms engaged by the hollow caps so that the pins translate in opposite directions when the rocker member is pivoted.

  • Patent number: 4416595
Abstract: A pressure pump for fluid in which tubing is wound about an orbitally movable pressure member inside of a sleeve member which is defined by a pair of pivotally mounted, substantially semi-circular jaws to permit opening and closing of the jaws about the pressure member to facilitate installation of tubing. Sliding gripper means may be carried by the pump and positioned to interact in one position with grippable means on the free ends of the jaws to hold them in closed relation, and for the sliding gripper means to be moved to a second position to permit the jaws to open. Simultaneously, the sliding gripper means can serve as a latch for a lid of the casing in which the pump is carried. Also the casing may have a partition with groove means having an enlarged portion for receiving joined connectors in the tubing, and a power source such as a battery may be attached to a removable portion of the casing in such a manner as to prevent accidental reverse installation of the battery.

  • Patent number: 4376239
Abstract: An electrical switch is provided with a switch operator having a resilient pad on its distal end, the operator being mounted for axial movement in an operator housing to actuate contacts deposited in a double spiral pattern on a substrate coupled to the operator housing. The operator tip is moved first to contact the front side of a flexible membrane which is separated from the contacts by a spacer. The operator pad is then moved further to deflect the membrane and close the gap formed between the shorting patch and the switch contacts, the travel of the operator and the action of the pad providing a sensation of feel to the user. The switch is constructed in single units and in arrays.

  • Patent number: 4359615
Abstract: A switch actuator in the form of a bifurcated elongated member has a pair of legs pivoted relative to each other. In the "off" position of the switch, the legs may be pivoted relative to each other, and the actuator may be withdrawn from the switch. This precludes an unauthorized operation of the switch and the equipment controlled thereby. In the "on" position of the switch, an interlocking means precludes the relative pivotal movement of the legs, and the actuator may not be withdrawn from the switch. In the preferred embodiment, the legs of the actuator automatically engage an operating element of the switch, upon the insertion of the actuator into the switch. Thereafter, the actuator has a limited sliding movement to alternately move the switch into its "on" and "off" positions. Preferably, the switch is of the "pull on/push off" type; and the sliding movement of the actuator is in a plane which is substantially parallel to the linear movement of the switch operating element.
