Abstract: A rotary light switch for motor vehicles is presented that ensures a feel that is not susceptible to mechanical influences. The rotary light switch has an actuator that can be rotated around an axis and that can be moved in the axial direction, and that is non-rotatably coupled to a rotational position indicator and axially coupled to an axial position indicator. Moreover, it has an electronic evaluation circuit to which the signals from the rotational position indicator and from the axial position indicator are fed and, according to a permanently stored decision matrix, said evaluation circuit uses the signals to derive discrete switching states that are converted into switching signals that serve to actuate the lighting system of the vehicle. The rotational position indicator comprises a potentiometer that generates a negligible resistance to the rotational movement, so that no mechanical influences are caused by the rotational position indicator.

Abstract: A key operated switch that provides enhanced operational characteristics wherein the rotary motion of a key is translated into the actuation of a switch mechanism that rapidly establishes an electrical connection between a source of electrical current and a load. The switch uses a toggle adapted to interact with a standard switching mechanism which reduces the number of components and the cost of the switch. The key cylinder is coupled to a yieldable member such as spring to provide a positive or snap action when the key cylinder is rotated with a prescribed arc of rotation which reduces the complexity of the switch.

Abstract: When an operator applies a removing force to turn a switch portion b in a direction C2, a projection a4 abuts against a slope b71 so that the removing force as a reaction is applied to the slope. The removing force is divided into a component working along the slope b71 and a component F working in a same direction as a center axis X. Thus, the removing force is converted into a force F in the same direction as the center axis X. By means of the force F in the same direction as the center axis X, a pushbutton support b6 is moved downward as accordingly moving a movable contacts b9 away from a fixed contacts b12 via a contact shaft b5.

Abstract: An operating arrangement is provided for a mechanism or the like, e.g. an operating mechanism for a circuit interrupter for electrical power transmission and distribution systems where the operating mechanism operates on stored energy and requires a recharging operation after the stored energy is utilized to operate the circuit interrupter. The operating arrangement includes an operating member and a cooperating arrangement carried by the operating mechanism for retaining the operating member during a multi-turn charging operation. Initial operation of the operating member for one or more turns causes the operating member to be retained before any charging operation takes place. Subsequent operation of the operating member results in the charging of the operating mechanism. The operating member is then returned to an initial engagement position whereupon the operating member is released for removal from the operating mechanism.

Abstract: A motivational apparatus for controlling use of an electronic device, wherein the apparatus is interconnected between a source of transmission (e.g. power) and the electronic device to control transfer of transmissions from the transmission source to the electronic device. The apparatus comprises a plurality of electrical switches, a master switch, and a plurality of light-emitting diodes. A list of tasks is prepared and associated with the electrical switches such that one task corresponds to one electrical switch. As each task is completed, the electrical switch corresponding to that task is actuated to light up the diode corresponding to that switch. After all of the tasks are completed, a parent or supervisor may confirm satisfactory completion of the tasks and then actuate the master switch to close the electrical circuit, thereby allowing transfer of transmissions from the transmission source to the electronic device such that the electronic device is operational.

  • Patent number: 6236121
Abstract: A device with a key-actuated closing cylinder and a switch triggers, when a key is turned therein, a particular electric function in a motor vehicle. In order to achieve a particularly compact and reliable device, at least two sensors are arranged inside the cylinder housing of the closing cylinder in zones that are mutually offset in the longitudinal direction. The sensor outputs are connected to a common evaluation device. The cylinder core has in corresponding axial zones several permanent magnets at particular points of its periphery. These points are selected so that the evaluation device detects different codes at the sensor outputs in the different working positions of the cylinder core and clearly identifies with these codes the corresponding working positions. The evaluation device thus acts as an electronic switch which on the basis of the sensed code triggers the electric function that corresponds to the momentary working position.
