Patent number: 8987618Abstract: A non-load break isolating switch for a voltage controller or other electrical component controller may include a mangle pinion gear shaft and a slider having a gear rack that meshes with the mangle pinion gear shaft. Movement of an ON/OFF switch handle of the controller may cause the mangle pinion gear shaft to rotate. Rotation of the mangle pinion gear shaft may cause the slider to linearly translate along a fixed path, where a conductive connector on the slider may engage or disengage a finger assembly to make or break a connection with a voltage bus. Voltage controllers and methods of assembling a non-load break isolating switch are also provided, as are other aspects.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2012Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Siemens Industry, Inc.Inventor: Truett Ramsey Thompson

Publication number: 20140353130Abstract: An electrical circuit switching device includes a housing body including therein a circuit breaker for breaking/energizing an electrical circuit, and a housing door including a handle for operating the circuit breaker. A switch operating unit for driving a circuit switching unit of the circuit breaker includes a lock that can engage/disengage with/from a coupling part of the handle. The coupling part engages with the lock when the housing door is closed, and the circuit breaker can be operated only in this state via the coupling part.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2014Publication date: December 4, 2014Applicant: FANUC CorporationInventor: Yuuta SEKIKAWA

Publication number: 20140190800Abstract: An improved circuit interrupter assembly provides enablement of an interlock feature for a circuit interrupter situated within a cabinet having an external handle for switching the circuit interrupter between ON and OFF conditions when the cabinet door is closed. The improved circuit interrupter assembly includes a motion transfer apparatus that provides such enablement of the interlock feature for cabinets of any of a variety of depths. The motion transfer apparatus includes a Bowden cable that extends between a first retention assembly situated at the door of the cabinet and a second retention assembly situated at the interlock feature of the circuit interrupter. The Bowden cable has a biased drive cable that extends between a pair of elements and which thus transfers the motion of the cabinet door in its closed position to enable cooperation with the interlock.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: EATON CORPORATIONInventor: Kenneth Martin Fischer

Publication number: 20130256102Abstract: A locking device is disclosed for a door. In an embodiment, the locking device includes a locking slider which is slidable into at least two positions, wherein in the first position the door is locked and in the second position the door is released for opening; and includes a guide within which the locking slider is slidably arranged. The locking slider includes a door interrogator, wherein the door interrogator can be displaced by the door into at least two door interrogator positions, wherein in the first door interrogator position with the door closed the locking slider can be shifted into one of its at least two positions, and wherein in the second door interrogator position with the door open the locking slider cannot be shifted into the first position for locking the door.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2013Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: SIEMENS AKTIENGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Alexander HAGER, Jürgen KUMMER

Patent number: 7405369Abstract: Switch apparatus is disclosed. The switch apparatus has an enclosure, having a openable cover, a switch disposed within the enclosure, a handle in operative communication with the switch, a spring in biasing communication with the handle, and interlocking members. The interlocking members, the handle, the biasing spring and the switch having positions relative to each other such that the interlocking members lock the cover in a closed position in response to the handle being biased toward an OFF position, and the switch contacts being closed. Further disclosed is a method for unlocking a closed cover of a switch apparatus. A spring biased handle is changed to an OFF biased position from an ON biased position passing through a non-biased position. Subsequent thereto, a switch being changed from a closed circuit to an open circuit position. Subsequent thereto, interlocking members are changed from an interlocked to a non-interlocked position.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2005Date of Patent: July 29, 2008Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Pothakamuri Mukharzi, Pankaj Shrivastava, Sundaresh Holla
