Patent number: 8974641Abstract: A preload mechanism for a memory alloy wire actuator is disclosed that includes a rotating element configured to rotate about a pivot. The rotating element has a first contact point that is configured to couple to the memory alloy wire actuator such that contraction of the memory alloy wire actuator displaces the first contact point such that the rotating element rotates from a first position to a second position. The preload mechanism also includes a bias element with a first end that is coupled to a second contact point of the rotating element and a second end configured to be pinned relative to the pivot. The bias element has a line of action extending from the second end through the first end. Patent number: 7381310Abstract: A sea water desalination installation that employs an evaporation-condensation system which operates continuously at a low temperature and which enables the recovery of energy released. The installation includes a cylindrical evaporator having a large evaporation surface and a concentric condenser with a large surface area. Sea water is used to cool the condenser and said water is subsequently sent to the evaporator. A static high-pressure ventilator is used to: (i) drive the vapor/air in a closed circuit between the evaporator and the condenser and (ii), using a calibrated nozzle, create a pressure gradient that is equivalent to the pressure of the saturated vapor at working temperature between said two zones. The aforementioned evaporator and condenser are thermally insulated in relation to one another and to the external environment.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2002Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Inventors: Maria Fernando Hernandez Hernandez, Francisco Fernadnez De Mazarambroz Bernabeu

Publication number: 20020185367Abstract: The air B supplied from the air-sending device 23, constructing the recycling device 1 of the material to be processed, is kept in contact with the coolant A absorbed into or attached to the belt 4 for being dipped into liquid, wherein the air B inspired by the discharging device 49 is kept in contact with the coolant A dripping down or passing the plate 42 on which liquid flows down so that water from the coolant A will be evaporated when drying natural, thus increasing the density of ethylene glycol. The coolant A condensed to a given density is dripped down from the belt 4 for being dipped into liquid and the plate 42 on which liquid flows down so that, upon being reserved in the liquid recovering container 3 or the liquid reserving container 43, the coolant A, which is already recycled, is recovered from the container 3, 43.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2001Publication date: December 12, 2002Inventor: Akira Akazawa

Patent number: 5336376Abstract: In a distillation column with vaporous sidestream removal, the vaporous product removed is condensed in a condenser. The vapor pipe provided for the removal of product opens into a dip tank of which the upper end is connected to the condenser while its lower end is connected to a discharge pump. Inert gas present in the condensate is returned to the column above the sidestream removal through an inert gas pipe arranged at the upper end of the condenser.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1993Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Siegfried Taurat, Heinrich Steude, Ludwig Deibele, Heinz-Jurgen Alpers

Patent number: 4767498Abstract: Photographic waste solution is treated by a method which comprises contacting the waste solution with air, in an especially designed treatment vessel, at a solution temperature of from about 120.degree. F. to about 140.degree. F. The air thus becomes supersaturated with the liquid in the waste, and the waste solution is thus concentrated to form a waste slurry which is transferred out into a waste storage vessel.
